"Dave is a great plumber. Dave is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He even brings cookies at Christmas time. Does your plumber do that? I am always pleasantly surprised when I receive his bill. Owning a 100 year old home brings different challenges. Dave is a master at 100 year old plumbing."

"This is the first time I used Wyatt Works and could not be more pleased. Edward arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He made sure I was a satisfied customer and happy with the work performed before he left. I would give Edward and Wyatt Works more than 5 stars if I could, and they will definitely be my first and only call for any future plumbing needs I may need."

"I noticed a leak in the main soil drain pipe where it connects to the clean out junction just before going into the cement floor of our basement and connecting to the lateral line to the sewers. I suspected the drain must be clogged and was allowing the liquid to drain onto the floor through a broken seal on the connection. I checked Angie's List and called Allen Drain Service. Two technicians came out and performed the and inspection. They explained to me that I needed a plumber to replace the pipe and possibly the clean out junction and that it may require a partial dig out of the concrete floor around the clean out junction.

I was so surprised when they said I didn't owe them anything. Many service companies will charge a fee just for showing up, but I was not charged by this company, even though they provided a quick inspection and test of my drain system that resulted in the correct diagnosis, an explanation of the probable repair, and a suggestion for a proper service provider. They were very honest, professional and courteous and I still cannot get over the fact that they did not charge me for a service call. They said they didn't do any work that would justify a fee. They merely said if I, or anyone I knew ever needed drain service, to please give Allen Drain Service a call. I will certainly do that. Allen Drain Service is an asset to residents of NE Ohio.

"Tri-County Electric Services was able to send a plumber out the next day to provide estimates for a few projects in my home. Chris M. arrived at my home and was professional, knowledgable, straight forward, and friendly. He quoted me fair prices to install a new toilet and new kitchen faucet, both of which I had previously purchased independently and had at home ready to install. I was very happy that he was able to complete the installs that day. He also fixed a minor leak below a bathroom sink. All around a great experience! I will definitely hire them again for future plumbing needs. Chris explained that the company recently added a plumbing division to complement their electric services. Thank you for a job well done!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Homes built between 1950 and 1980 in Richfield are excellent candidates for plumbing upgrades due to aging galvanized supply lines. Discolored rust-water, low water pressure, and visible hard water scaling signal an immediate need for pipe replacement. Active water intrusion in your basement or a history of frozen exterior pipes also indicate that your system requires a professional overhaul to prevent further property damage.

Helpful?

A major mistake is skipping required local permits for plumbing, which creates serious liability issues. Failing to account for the 36-inch OH frost depth during exterior installations leads to burst pipes. Homeowners also improperly abandon private wells when connecting to municipal water. Adding bathrooms without verifying your existing septic system capacity causes catastrophic failure. Always hire licensed contractors to avoid dangerous and unpermitted work.

Helpful?

Routine maintenance for plumbing in Richfield includes winterizing exposed pipes and outdoor spigots before freezing weather arrives. Flush your water heater annually to remove hard water sediment. Test your sump pump every spring and fall to handle seasonal precipitation. Property owners on septic systems must pump their tanks every three to five years. Schedule periodic camera inspections of older clay sewer laterals to catch damaging root intrusion early.

Helpful?

In Richfield, you must decide whether to handle pulling permits yourself or hire a licensed contractor for your plumbing project. You also need to choose how to handle transitions between private wells and municipal water or septic and sewer systems. During remodels, your input on fixture placement dictates venting requirements. Finally, you must decide whether to fully replace or simply repair legacy materials like galvanized steel.

Helpful?

Ignoring the moderately hard water in OH accelerates mineral scale buildup in pipes and water heaters. Leaving garage doors open during freezing winters causes severe pipe damage. Flushing wipes creates blockages that stress pipe joints, especially in older clay lateral lines. Running a sump pump to failure or relying heavily on harsh chemical drain cleaners also destroys the interior of older cast iron drain lines.
