"Great work at a much lower price than the other companies for the same project. Crew was friendly, professional and informative about the project. Nick, Brandon and Tim did a great job in our basement installing the new drain channel, piping and wall barrier over the old somewhat moldy walls. Also repaired an old faulty sump pump drain outside the house that was causing poor drainage. Highly recommend All American."

Small jobs welcome

"Came out as soon as they could after calling. Almost 100 year old dump trap failed causing water to overflow from upstairs bath to first floor and basement. Opened ceiling and installed up to code parts/new drain pipes within approximately 5 hours. Very professional. Explained process. Cleaned up after."

"Customer service was good. They were prompt. The plumber was professional but I was disappointed in the end. My down spout could not be unclogged. After trying for about 20-30 minutes to unclog it, it was still going to cost $475. When I asked about that it went down to $175. I still think that was excessive for the small amount of work done and it not being fixed. So now I'm trying new companies to help or have someone dig and install a new one."

"He was helpful in acquiring materials. He installed well but put the solid core door where i wanted the hollow core door and vice versa. I asked him to switch them and to return to install the last door know. He said he would. Never heard from him again. Called and texted him. He ghosted me."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

Test regularly, clean the pump, and inspect the discharge line to ensure efficient operation.

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.
