"We had water coming in around the chimney in our home..We contacted this company the owner Ken Lemmons came out quoted $2300.00 in repairs to fix the problem.. We have contract stating exactly what needed to be preformed..After repairs were supposedly completed on Oct 8,2018 we had a big rain the last week in Oct and the chimney was leaking worst than before.. We called, he argued, and claimed we had the repairs done early in the summer, he did everything he was supposed to and we need to call someone else. We asked him to come out and look at the water problem he said he would be here in couple hours and never showed up and will not return any phone calls..We did have someone come out and discovered he did not make the repairs as contracted.. what little he did were not done correctly, He was suppose to fix all cracks and re-motor, replace the cap he did not do this, he used some synthetic appoxy to fill some areas, And spreed something over the top, He was suppose to seal the entire chimney, he half sprayed some of it and we are left with big runs down our beautiful stone and minimal coverage. He was supposed to remove old caulking around the flashing make any repairs and re-caulk he did not do this either he sparsely slapped incorrect caulk over old caulk..I have attached pictures and a copy of the contract below..We have been scammed out of $2,300.00 on a recommendation from Angie's List"

"They came a day early, which was fine. The employees were not wearing face coverings, but I did not challenge it. They cleaned 4 fireplaces in my home, which took about 15 minutes each. I asked them to look at some outside fire pits, which they did, and I asked them about the possibility of adding a gas heater to my solarium. The employees were excellent, but asked for $540.00 in charges. This was extreme, in my opinion, since they only spent 1 1/2 hours total. I called the company the next day and was given the run around. They eventually referred me to the owner, who never called back. I expected a reduced charge, since I only paid around $200.00 the last time of service. They could not explain their charge plan satisfactorily. I feel that they were price gouging, since their is little competition in their field. I will not be using their services in the future."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to convert an oil furnace to gas. However, you may have to replace the furnace completely instead of simply converting it. If the original oil furnace has had any type of damage or is older (typically considered over 15 years old), then you will likely need a full replacement versus a conversion.

Plumbers start by walking around the property to see if they notice any signs or sounds of a gas leak. They can also use tools like electronic gas detectors and infrared cameras to find the source of leaks. There are also detectors that use laser, thermal, and multi-wavelength imaging. All these devices allow a plumber to scan your home and pinpoint the exact location of a leak.

The biggest disadvantage of propane is that heating systems and appliances powered by propane tend to cost more than gas-powered ones. Propane is also dangerous since it can create frostbite if it touches the skin and can easily combust if mishandled. It’s also quite cumbersome to buy or replace propane tanks, so many people choose to have propane delivered to their homes—an extra cost and logistical challenge that can be a headache.

Take this one seriously! If your oven smells like gas when it’s off, this is a telltale sign of a gas leak that can lead to a fire or explosion. In addition, a small leak has the potential to turn into a major leak without warning if any part of your piping or tubing breaks. Potential sources of a leak include the gas valve, burner, joint, or connection lines behind the stove. If the leak appears to be significant, you should contact the gas company or fire department.

The size of a pipe isn’t always the outside or inside diameter. Rather, it’s a nominal diameter that depends on the type of pipe. For male pipes, you’ll need to measure the outside diameter. For female pipes, you’ll need to measure the inside diameter. You’ll then need to use a nominal diameter conversion chart to get the actual pipe size you’d buy in the store.
