"Estimate spelled out the process and cost. Both were also explained by Mr. Simon. Cost was as estimated. He and his crew were very courteous, and as far as we can tell, they did a good job of remediation of mold."

"In a crazy world, with a hectic life, in the midst of all the chaos involved in buying our first home for our large family of 7, we couldn't have found or trusted a better person for the job of inspecting our potential home! Very knowledgeable, professional, and generally pleasant to work with. Brent went above and beyond to make time for us within our short deadline, despite his very busy schedule and he made absolute certain we knew what we were getting into as far as the state and condition of the incredible, old Victorian structure we are looking to purchase!! The building itself was erected in 1876, and built according to an entirely different standard than anything built in the past 75 years, which means that, as Brent stated, "It needs to be inspected differently than your typical modern building". He was well versed in both old and new with an obvious appreciationfor both, and by the end of his service, was able to give my husband and I total peace of mind, as he went down the list of his concerns, as well as providing a basis of what making the repairs would likely entail, considering his background working construction prior to becoming an inspector. No stone was left unturned and no questions left unanswered, AND we had our complete report by the end of the same day of our inspection!! We would happily and confidently recommend this company to anyone in need of such services. If we could give 10 stars, we would. Thank you Brett!!!"

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to use bleach or vinegar to eradicate mold on concrete is dependent on personal preferences, safety concerns, and the severity of the mold issue. Bleach is a powerful disinfectant that kills mold and its spores, but its strong fumes and potential health risks make it a more aggressive approach. It's generally a better option for handling outdoor concrete stains. White vinegar, however, is a safer and environmentally friendly option that can eliminate mold. Although it may take longer to show results, vinegar has a milder odor and is less likely to cause discoloration than bleach.

Rust in your bathtub occurs when iron in the water or on metal components in your tub are exposed to oxygen, but while it’s unsightly, it won’t make bathing dangerous. However, if the rust appears under or around your tub spout or shower head, it could indicate that you have high levels of iron in your water. Drinking water with small amounts of iron in it usually doesn’t pose a health risk, but you might want to consider installing a water softener. The presence of iron could indicate that you have hard water, which can create some plumbing issues.

The primary difference is that black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) is considered toxic and more dangerous than regular mold. It can produce harmful chemicals called mycotoxins, which may lead to severe health issues like respiratory problems, skin irritation, headaches, and other long-term complications. While regular mold is rarely toxic, it can still cause allergic reactions and respiratory irritation. Visually, black mold often appears dark—green, gray, brown, or black—with a fuzzy texture, whereas regular mold can be almost any color. Black mold is less common and typically grows in areas with severe water damage. Regardless of the type, you should not ignore any mold infestation in your home.

Several household cleaning products will permanently kill mold, most notably vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Bleach can also kill mold, but usually just on the surface. Any mold lingering underneath will survive.

For moldy areas larger than 10 square feet, you'll want to hire a professional mold remediation company to determine the best way to permanently remove the mold. A local mold inspector can help you determine the extent of a mold problem, and what steps you need to take to eradicate it.

If you are not at high risk of contracting disease and take proper safety precautions, it’s considered generally safe to clean mouse droppings on your own. Before handling any droppings, make sure to put on protective equipment such as plastic gloves and a face mask. Individuals who are immunocompromised, have medical conditions, and children should especially avoid exposure to mouse droppings.
