Most of what we do is full tear-out and replacement. We remove the old cracked, settling, or spalling concrete, rebuild the base the right way, and pour new. We also handle driveway extensions and widening, aprons and curb cuts, stamped and decorative concrete, and concrete repair.\n\nOur crews have poured more than 38,000 residential concrete projects. Every job gets a dedicated project coordinator, up-front pricing with no surprise change orders, and a final walkthrough before we call it finished. Licensed and insured.\n\nNeed a new driveway? "They did a great job at a fair price. The crew was prompt and professional. They had to remove the old driveway, which was thick blacktop over old concrete and graded the wrong way, allowing water to pool in the garage. The new driveway is concrete with steel rebar reinforcement. It looks fantastic and very solid. We've had a lot of compliments from neighbors! We would use them again for concrete work."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The average cost to repair an asphalt driveway is around $2,459 to $2,500. However, prices can range from $100 for minor DIY crack filling to over $4,000 for more extensive professional work. Costs are often calculated per foot, with minor repairs costing $1 to $3 per linear foot and heavier damage like potholes, sinking, or crumbling costing $2 to $5 per linear foot. Patching smaller potholes can cost around $2 to $3 per square foot. The final price depends on the severity and extent of the damage, driveway design, local contractor rates, and whether sealing is included. For major repairs, it is recommended to hire a professional, and you may get a better deal by bundling repair and sealing services together.

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Sealing coat asphalt after 6-12 months and then every 2-3 years is recommended.
