I do have mice getting into my crawl space though. Not good! She was able to seal up the areas they were getting in. I really appreciate the time she took to explain to me about mice and also how she knew I didn’t have a skunk problem. I thought there was one in the crawl space and there was no evidence of that. It was probably coming around at night but I could smell it in the house. I would definitely recommend her service."

While they belong to the same general “gnat” category, fruit flies and fungus gnats are different insects. Fungus gnats are typically darker in color and have long legs, while fruit flies are usually lighter in color and have shorter legs. Fungus gnats are attracted to damp soil and decaying plant matter, while fruit flies are attracted to overripe fruit and other sweet substances.

When threatened or crushed, stink bugs emit a pungent scent often described as smelling similar to cilantro. However, some people say it can smell like sulfur or ammonia. The scent is produced by a gland on their abdomen and some species can spray the scent too.

If a small hive is far enough from your home and doesn’t seem to pose a threat to the health of anyone, then you can opt to leave it alone. They are still pollinators; if you have a garden, they’ll tackle some gardening work for you and produce helpful results without harming you.

Stay calm and avoid acting like a threat. Avoid swatting at the wasps or yelling, which will agitate wasps and make them more likely to attack. Instead, move away at a slow, steady pace in one direction, getting as much distance between you and the wasps as possible. 

Wasps swarm to protect their nest, so moving far away indicates you are not a threat and they should subside. Do not try to handle a wasp nest filled with agitated wasps. Wait until they call down before you take action, or trust in a professional.

Spotting a single scorpion in the home doesn’t mean you have a full-blown infestation, but it does mean there’s a way for them to get inside. Other scorpions could easily use the same method, like entering through an air vent, as these arachnids are social creatures that tend to live in groups. If you see a baby scorpion, however, that likely indicates a nest somewhere in the home. This is also true if you spot a scorpion with an infant on its back.
