"As I requested they provided the cost for drain snaking upfront. A simple procedure that most others would not quote. (They wanted to do a separate "diagnostic" visit and additional fee. The work was fine. The technician very competent and concientious about keeping things clean. The only rub, they wanted $179 to put the toilet back in (way out of line). I think they could have told me. Nevertheless, I drove to home depot for a wax ring and had it done in 10 minutes. Overall, a 4 oout of 5. If they charged a more reasonable rate for reseating the toilet i would have had them do it, and would have rated a 5."

If your radiator turns on every time you turn on your hot water, your problem is likely your motorized three-port valve that’s attached to your boiler. When it malfunctions, the valve isn’t closing properly, so the water begins to flow to your radiator, thus kicking off the heat. To fix this, hire a boiler repair tech near you to replace your valve.

If you have multiple radiators, start by bleeding a first-floor radiator that is farthest from the boiler. Work your way toward the boiler on the first floor before moving to the next floor, where you’ll again start by bleeding the radiator farthest from the boiler. Continue this pattern for radiators on each floor until they’ve all been bled.

If you hire a professional to replace your gas furnace’s thermocouple, you’ll usually pay between $150 and $250. Since thermocouples often fail due to a lack of maintenance, you may be able to avoid—or at least delay—a thermocouple replacement by taking good care of your furnace. This means scheduling annual furnace inspections, changing the filters at least once per season, and cleaning the burners occasionally.
