"Installed glass block window in my basement. Very reasonable.. prompt, dependable and his workmanship was excellent. Very personable and well mannered. Honest and provided all of the pertinent information. No surprises. I have already recommended him to others and would hire him again in a heartbeat."

"Chris and Adrian did a fantastic job.  The reason we ended up hiring them was the first company did such a poor job.  They were in constant contact with myself and my wife regarding the progress of the job and took a lot of time the explain what the final product would look like.  Adrian took one full day to put down cardboard and tape to seal the marble in the shower and bathroom floor to ensure it would not be damaged.  He was punctual, polite and most imprtantly the quality of the job is incredible.  The seams between the blocks are straight and constant from side to side and top to bottom which is very difficult to do on a curved wall.  If you are doing glass block work it would be a mistake to not consider Best Choice.  Do yourself a favor, don't go with your 1st choice, go with the Best Choice."

"Very professional salesman and polite efficient one man installer, the only reason I did not give an A on price is because no Angie's list discount was offered. I don't know if it was automatic but I suggest asking for one. Clean fast work, and payment not required until job completed. Keeps noise out near air conditioner, beautiful look inside and out. Can not see into basement even with lights on and the window vented screened area open much wider than expected. Dryer vent easy to install myself as we had to wait 24 hours to reinstall. Makes the whole basement look updated and finished. My cost was for 3 windows with screened openings, 1 with dryer vent and 2 window without extra details. My old windows were poorly sealed and allowed moisture to get into basement area and cause cracking to mortar around cement blocks, this will definitely help stop that along with the security and beauty of the look."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

DIY is possible for small projects, but professional installation ensures proper sealing, structural integrity, and a precise finish.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.
