"Very professional, they put drainage in my back yard and made sure they left the smallest footprint with there equipment. Also went above and beyond and moved my extra dirt to the corner of my yard. While this virus is going around they made sure they kept their distance while being respectful."

"We received a number of estimates. Tom was the most direct, honest and explained the process in a very easy to understand way. This was not a high pressure sales, just the facts. During the actual process we were kept up to date, and right before the job was finished we had some heavy rain on the weekend. Tom called just to make sure everything was all right and it was. A very excellent experience. We would highly recommend Restivo Excavating."

Dirt Hauling questions, answered by experts

Regular checks of structural elements, weatherproofing, and energy systems.

The most affordable way to get rid of junk often involves a do-it-yourself approach, especially if you don't have a large amount of debris. Start by sorting your items into categories: donate, recycle, sell, or trash.

  • Donate or Sell: Usable goods can be donated to local charities. You can also list items for free or for a low price on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

  • Use Municipal Services: Your city's regular garbage collection or bulk pickup days can be the cheapest option. However, be sure to check community guidelines for quantity limits and accepted materials. You can also take recyclables to a city drop-off center.

  • Haul it Yourself: If you have a truck or suitable vehicle, loading the junk and taking it to a local transfer station, public dump, or waste disposal facility is a very cost-effective method.

If a DIY approach isn't possible, consider these options:

  • Rent a Dumpster: You can rent a dumpster, fill it yourself, and the rental company will haul it away. This is a good middle-ground if you can do the labor but don't have a vehicle for transport.

  • Hire a Junk Removal Service: While typically the most expensive choice, hiring a professional junk removal team is the most time-efficient and requires the least effort from you. This is a good solution if your city's services won't accept the items or if you are unable to move them yourself.

One of the best ways to reduce packaging waste is to purchase materials that are made using recycled materials. While these don’t eliminate waste, they do help provide uses for old packaging materials and prevent the need to collect more raw ingredients for continued manufacturing. Recycling those same products helps complete the cycle and reduces the need for new materials in the supply chain. You can also upcycle some packing materials, like cardboard and plastic, for use in crafts and organizational tools.

The cost of biohazard cleanup averages between $3,000 and $5,000 for most homeowners. Some services, like sanitizing high-traffic areas or sanitizing surfaces from a virus, cost closer to $1,500. However, other circumstances, like the extensive cleanup after a major sewer backup, could cost as much as $25,000

Unsurprisingly, one of the busiest seasons for junk haulers is the springtime. The warmer weather makes spring the best time for junk removal for most people. If your junk removal schedule is flexible, though, booking for the winter might be the best option for you. You’ll see more availability and even a possible discount since the colder months are generally slower for junk haulers. If you are getting rid of unneeded junk during warmer months, call a junk removal specialist in advance to ensure they get you on the schedule.
