Before I met Joe Deren I had hired a different hardscape contractor to cut a driveway into my hillside. The results were disastrous and I was embarrassed to have neighbors see the mess. I was so lucky to find Joe and his team. They fixed everything that had been done wrong. The retaining wall and landscaping they put in are beautiful. I was very impressed when Joe came to the worksite every day to make sure everything had been done right and that I was happy. We hired Joe to build a stone retaining wall. He and his crew exceeded our expectations. He always got back to us when we had questions, Joe and his crew were hard workers, showed up when expected, cleaned up everyday and very polite. I would hire Artistic Edge Hardscapes again.

Our project started as a retaining wall to mitigate some erosion issues we were having. Joe's vision of turning our steeply sloped backyard into a hardscape flagstone patio was unbelievable. We are so happy with the work and final result, The erosion problems were resolved AND we have a beautifully constructed patio and stone stairway they we never would have thought possible. We'll be using him again on future projects!

The owner Joe Deren is why I went with Artistic Edge Hardscapes. He was very knowledgeable in explaining the installation of the 80 # block and caps for the retaining walls and for figuring out the framing of the poured handicapped accessible sidewalk.He designed the sidewalk to drain rainwater away from the house and designed and fixed existing drainage problems I had. He even adjusted their schedule to work on Saturday to be ready for the concrete delivery on early Monday morning because of working around all of the rain we ve been having. All of his crew were very courteous to my wife and daughters and answered any questions we had. We did this project for the handicapped sidewalk so my son in law can drive his electric wheelchair into the basement. And like I told Joe and his crew you always want a project to help the value of your home and we feel like it does. My wife and I are very happy with every phase of their work and will use them again for future work we need done.

Our project began as a desire to do some landscaping in our backyard. When Joe arrived, he spent time not only evaluating the yard, but also the home structure. This is where is experience as an inspector really paid off. He identified a major structural issue that our inspector missed. It was a bit of a time bomb. Joe creatively combined fixing the structural concerns with an overhaul of our backyard. We ended up building a large retaining wall to shore up the structure and using this as the basis for an amazing patio. Joe was able to create a vision for our property, execute on it and add in quite a few detailed touches that help make our yard even more attractive. He spent as much time with us as we needed, sent regular photos and updates and was always concerned with our satisfaction. His crew is also top-notch. While retaining walls are his specialty (and he does a great job with this), Joe and Artistic Hardscapes are a team that I would recommend you consider for any significant property work.

Joe responded quickly and provided a fair price for what turned out to be an amazing concrete block replacement to our failing 28 year old railroad tie retaining wall. Beyond expanding our parking from 3 to 6 vehicles he also managed to correct a drainage problem and create a finished aesthetic more fitting to the property and surrounding landscape. I think Joe and his crew were great. My lot handles a lot of rain run-off. I gave Joe the freedom to do what was needed to correct the problem. Now I am waiting on Mother nature to test the results but I am confident the run off will be less of a problem. Thank you to Joe and his crew. Bill H.

Removal of rotting railroad ties, installed decorative wall front yard, removed old concrete steps, inst. concrete sidewalk, fencing, and new deck. Quality Customer Service and professional guidance for appealing landscape design. Planted new and moved old trees. Planted New shrubbery decorative plants, installed pine straw, gravel for drainage. Joe Daren has a very artistic eye and does quality work. His crew worked hard and cleaned up prior to leaving every day. I would highly recommend this company!

My wall is amazing. Added value. Joe and his crew are very nice and cleaned up the job site daily. Not only did Joe build a nice wall, but went outside of the box and transplanted some shrubs that were planted in the walkway of the wall, put a riser on the septic tank that was directly behind the wall to access easier for cleaning, and took a tree down in the path of the wall. Looking forward to seeing how Joe will design the backyard next year. JOB WELL DONE!

Joe had ideas that I did not think of with our landscaping. The retaining wall is beautiful and designed wonderfully. We love the new look of our front yard. Joe and his crew exceeded all our expectations! We recommend Joe for all landscaping needs.

Joe came to quote and was very very thorough on inspecting what needed to be done and offering alternative solutions but making sure I knew what was the best solution. (we had a railroad tie retaining and supporting wall that was rotting away and needed replacement). Joe and his team were superb. They started early and worked hard. We were going away but by then I trusted Joe's work so much that I left them to finish the job while I was away on vacation. I came back to a superb job of a 70 foot long 6 foot high concrete block wall and a fully supported two story deck which had been jacked up 2 inches and supported on concrete pillars. It was now not going anywhere. Joe had also meticulously cleaned up the jobsite and mulched the disturbed areas. He came back later to inspect the job and complete some finishing touches. I would, without hesitation, use Joe again.

Completion was fast but with some problems. The fill dirt was not compacted properly behind the wall so the soil and sod are sinking in many spots. Problem with clean up - my neighbors and I needed to clean the dirt off the road with pressure washers. Cable service line was cut twice resulting in 2 weeks with no service. Some of my garden tools went missing during the job.

Joe responded promptly, gave me an estimate and got the work finished within approx. 10 days. The work is well done and looks very nice. Joe is very careful in his work ensuring accurate measurement with little waste.

Joe and his team did a wonderful job from beginning to end. To say that this job was just minor grading though would not be an apt description. They installed drainage, resodded, built a retaining wall and repaired a fence and gate. The workmanship looks great and we relied on Joe's years of experience throughout the process.

Joe did everything he said he would do to build two retaining walls at our house in the north Georgia mountains. He and his workers started the work when he said he would and finished when he said he would finish. The walls look great and very professionally done and I'm sure they will last a long time putting our fears of foundation erosion behind us. I would highly recommend Joe for your needs.
