"Jake was extremely courteous and professional. Within one day of contacting him he had someone here to assess the problem. While Mother Nature was not cooperating to allow us to fix the problem immediately Jake sent a worker to remove the infected area of mold and address our health and safety concerns. The problem was removed and precautions were put in place. I give them a very high review on everything they did for us. Well done Erie Environmental. Tom and Emmy Bryan"

"I was personally skeptical a water system would make any difference to the water in my home. We had our system tested and were informed our water had a lot of room for improvment. The salesmen was knowledgeable but was still unsure but my wife wanted the system. We have had the system for 7 years and I am very satisfied as it has delivered every claim made by the salesman. I would highly recommend this company and their recommendations for your home. I can't drink tap water any longer."

"The house we had him look at has supposedly already had an inspection done and were supposedly all remedied. Mike was able to locate outlets where the wiring was backwards and spots that needed patched on the roof. It surprises me that these were not found before, but Mike was extremely thorough and informative."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Several factors contribute to the persistent growth of mold in vents, with excess moisture being the most common culprit. Consistent mold formation in vents indicates an ongoing moisture problem within the HVAC system or its surroundings, likely caused by condensation on cool surfaces in areas with high humidity. Moisture accumulation can also result from leaks in ductwork, inadequate ventilation, or insufficient insulation, creating an environment favorable for mold growth. Regular inspections, addressing potential sources of moisture, maintaining proper ventilation, and routine HVAC maintenance can help prevent the recurrence of mold in vents. If the issue persists, seek professional assistance to identify and rectify the underlying problems.

Mold can grow quickly in wet carpet: in as little as 12 to 24 hours. That’s why it is crucial to take action immediately if there’s any sign of water damage under your floor. Remove as much water as possible with a shop vac and towels, then use baking soda to help remove moisture deep in the fibers. Always steam clean the carpet or use an antibacterial carpet sanitizer to kill any mold growth.

Bathroom mold tends to reappear due to the persistent presence of moisture and humidity, creating the ideal conditions for its growth. Since bathrooms are inherently humid environments, without proper ventilation, moisture accumulates on surfaces, providing a continuous food source for mold spores. Mold spores are present in the air and settle on damp surfaces to start growing rapidly. Additionally, if the underlying causes of mold, such as plumbing leaks or inadequate sealing, are not addressed, mold will return even after removal. To avoid recurring issues, addressing the root cause by improving ventilation, fixing leaks, and maintaining a dry bathroom environment through regular cleaning and maintenance is essential.

Certainly, DIY mold tests are not perfect when trying to determine whether you have a mold problem. They could give you a false positive reading, or they may fail to detect mold that’s behind a wall, especially if the infestation is still small. Ultimately, you should seek a mold inspection if the DIY test gives you a positive result, just to be certain. And if the test is inconclusive, it’s probably worth seeking an inspection from a pro.

Efflorescence itself won’t turn into mold, but it can cause moisture problems, which can lead to mold. It’s important to address an efflorescence problem as soon as possible, as mold can pose health risks and even compromise the structure of your home.
