"Excellent service. Highly recommend. Sales consultant Aaron explained all my options and took into consideration any problem areas. Did not try to oversell. I was very satisfied with discounts/credits applied. I was given reminders of install date and sent picture of installer Anthony in advance. Anthony and other installers Ryland and "new guy" wore protective gear, explained work, completed install of new heat pump and air handler in one day. They cleaned up nicely after work, checked that all working correctly, and explained system/ thermostat to me. System is working great."
Logan A/C & Heat Services offered value, competitive pricing, top of the line Trane equipment, nice financing options that other companies did not offer. Dan was my sales rep that offered the above services. Bobby was the installer & was professional & did a great job. Install was scheduled on a Monday after I committed on a Friday; so very quick! "We were really impressed by and grateful for how comprehensive the inspection was and how helpful his explanations were. He took multiple pictures and generated an elevation diagram. He did a great job explaining why the current sump pump was insufficient and what improvements should be made. He also walked around the exterior of the house to inspect it for any signs of foundation issues, and he spotted a tiny crack in the brick that was hard to see--that's how thorough he was!  He explained what we should be concerned about and what was due to normal aging.

When he finished his inspection, he set up a mobile office with a laptop and printer on the kitchen counter.  He was able to complete the report on the spot and provided the hard copy of his report before he left.

He was punctual, thorough, polite, and trustworthy.  We feel confident moving forward with the home purchase, and we would definitely hire him and The Basement Doctor to perform any of the suggested upgrades.  "

Small jobs welcome

"John set-up & connected plumbing & fixtures for sinks after our new kitchen & bath countertops were installed. He called few days ahead to set a time to coordinate with timing of the countertop installation. As it turned out, John was happy to come out much earlier after we called to say the installers were almost finished. John was just great & we have already recommended him to our neighbor. He did a wonderful job, was thorough & detailed, plus brought a cloth with him & cleaned up before leaving. He even helped us re-hang a mirror which installers forgot about. Thank you John!"

"Iran H, Chris M and Floyd C were the service people from Ohio Basement Authority who repaired a leaning concrete block foundation wall in the basement and installed a sump pump. They did excellent, considerate work and I would recommend them for a similar project."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

You should be fine. Most high-grade grinder pumps have a 24-hour holding capacity within the tank. You can continue to use the facilities so long as the power outage does not stretch into days. In a worst-case scenario, attach a generator to the grinder pump, providing it has sufficient electric capacity.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.

The life span of a water pump ranges from five to 15 years on average. Regular maintenance can extend its life. If you notice significant drops in performance, strange noises, or frequent malfunctions, consider a water pump or well pump replacement. Always get in touch with a professional if you're concerned about yCan I install a water pump myself?our pump's condition.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.
