"From start to finish, my experience with Rogers Basement Waterproofing was the the kind of experience we all hope for when hiring a professional. I contacted Rogers initially to get an idea of how to start addressing external moisture issues around my home’s foundation. My plan was to start by having new downspout/sump drainage lines installed, but my goal was to find a trusted company I could have confidence in for addressing future foundation/basement issues that are inevitable in aging homes. Shortly after my initial call, Nick contacted me. At our appointment he arrived promptly and took the time to listen to all my concerns. He was so knowledgeable, patient, and easy to communicate with. He answered my millions of questions, and I never felt rushed or pressured. In fact, I felt so impressed with that consult that I signed a contract on the spot—something I never do—for installation of drainage lines. The day before the scheduled work, Nicole—the Office Manager—contacted me to confirm and answer any questions I might have. I did have a request concerning one of the lines, and she relayed that request as soon as our call ended. Within minutes, I was contacted by Nick that my request was noted. Nicole was so incredibly nice that it further confirmed that I’d chosen the right company. On the scheduled day, the 4 man crew arrived on the dot. Shortly afterward, Nick stopped by to see how the work was going and to see if I had any questions/concerns. The crew, Zach, Craig, Hunter, and Josh were the hardest workers ever and couldn’t have been more friendly and pleasant. All four, and Nick, went out of their way to put my mind at ease about the process. The crew are more than skilled workers, they are craftsmen. They did meticulous work and went above and beyond. While routing a line to avoid tearing up a garden bed, a huge rock had to be hacked out of the ground. It’s now a cool garden feature since one of the crew kindly offered to wash it off and haul it over to one of the garden beds! The terrific crew were so efficient that the work was completed in under four hours. You literally cannot see where the trench was dug. Last night, we had a gulley washer rainfall. My neighbors probably thought I had lost my mind standing in the street in the rain in the dark with a flashlight—but it was so great watching the rainwater pouring out of the new drainage pipe ? The entire experience with the folks at Rogers felt like I was working with family. Just amazing. I’m so happy to have found a trusted company to turn to if future foundation/ basement issues arise. Highly, highly recommend Rogers Basement Waterproofing!"

"They were great. The job was small to start, basically just behind the stove, and it is hard to find someone to come and do a small job. I liked it so well, I expanded to wrap around all the way around under the counters. They came back and did the job professionally and efficiently. It was glass subway type tile and it was cut to perfection. It was the explanation point the kitchen needed!"

Jones Topsoil was incorporated in 1924 under the name Jones Fuel Co. 2015 is our 91st anniversary. We sold residential coal for home furnaces in the Columbus, Ohio area. As natural gas became the fuel of choice in the 1950’s we began hauling topsoil, sand and gravel, and limestone for contractors and homeowners. Although our corporate name is still Jones Fuel Co., we do not sell any fuel. Our topsoil has always been of the highest quality because we normally strip topsoil ahead of gravel operations. Our soil is called “sandy loam” topsoil and usually comes from along Franklin County Rivers and streams. We sell three types of topsoil. SoilPlus, which is a blended topsoil, and can be delivered with our Slinger Jones trucks, is normally used for flower beds and gardens. Pulverized topsoil is our rich topsoil run through a large grinder and made easy to work with and spread. That soil is used to level out lawns and fill areas that need built up with soil. Our regular, un-pulverized topsoil is used to fill deep holes, or when the customer is using a skid loader to spread the topsoil. We also sell and deliver high quality mulch, sand & gravel, and limestone products. Because we have so many trucks, we are normally able to deliver on the same day as the order is placed, and normally within a few hours. 40 Employees. Uses subs. Cost is determined by the job. Travel charges apply. DBA Jones Fuel Co. Previous contact - John Jones. Award winning. Additional phone - (800) 867-7645.

"Could not have gone better. Driver was ontime, placed the topsoil where I wanted it on our driveway turnaround and away he went. If we need anything that Jones provides in the future, we will purchase from them."

From masonry and tile to garage doors and fireplaces, Hamilton Parker has a wide selection of building materials the construction industry relies on. We also offer specialty products, like imported tile, large format tile, thin brick, and more.

"Do not use this company they have a bad return policy! I ordered Schluter stair nosing and they did not order until a week after I was in the store. The people in Cincinnati were very rude and said they would not refund my money after I had called repeatedly to see if they had come in. $551 is what they charged me and said they were not going to refund my account. I will never shop there again."

"It is with a very heavy heart that I share this as I have shopped at Oakland Nursery for over 10 years and used various services including over $20K of work. Last year, I hired them for irrigation and sprinklers. The manager of irrigation left last fall for Colorado in the middle of my job. He had hired a sub to do it and I have had so many problems: left holes for kids to trip in, pummeled my fence, flooded my basement, planting grass in the wrong place, left a swamp. Although that sub is no longer there, they never hired another head of irrigation. They just used a guy that used to work for the previous head of irrigation (John). In order to solve the swamp issue, he sent a guy that wasn't a landscaper to dig up my sod and put dirt underneath. The previous head had recommended this in April but it wasn't done until months later, when the sun was too hot. It was a disaster and left a hazard as the grass was dying and pulling apart leaving large crevices. My daughter and I both twisted our ankles trying to get to the other side of the yard to water the veggies. They came and put hazard tape all around, ran my sprinklers around the clock and said no one could step on it for 4-6 weeks. I was left with almost half of my backyard that was unusable for a family reunion and two birthday parties. This was very costly to my family in the midst of COVID as we were planning to have these parties in the back yard. (They had also done 10K of work before this to plant a beautiful flower bed at the back of my yard that could no longer be seen because of the bright yellow hazard tape and tall weeds. They told me it couldn't even be mowed. I would have never consented to this if they told me it couldn't be walked on or mowed. When it was mowed 7 weeks later, there were holes, dead grass and a lot of bumps. They still haven't fixed this or even sent a boss to look at it. They send me bills with finance charges even though I paid before it was done. I already paid them $4100 for this service and they are charing me over $2K more b/c the head of irrigation did not put in writing what was a verbal agreement. There is no signed contract. I understand this is my fault but I trusted Oakland Nursery and John, the previous head of irrigation. This has been the worst professional experience of my life. I will no longer be using them and am hiring another company to fix it. I also have a lawyer who will now be communicating with them. My next email is to the Better Business bureau. I have never sued another company in my life, but sadly this is my next step if they continue to send me bills and don't correct the problems."

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

Yes, technically, you can pressure wash the paint off of brick. However, you run a much greater risk of damaging the brick and causing serious problems. If you go this route, you’ll still need to carefully choose and apply a chemical paint stripper before washing, following all instructions on the product packaging. Set your power washer to a low pressure to avoid damage.

Yes, but used or reclaimed bricks can be more brittle, cracked, or uneven than new bricks, so they’re harder to cut cleanly by hand. For that reason, you should take extra care when scoring and striking, and expect a higher chance of breakage. If a brick feels especially fragile, score deeper before attempting to split it.

Masonry uses units like bricks, cement blocks, and stone with mortar between them. Mortar is generally made of sand and a type of cement. Examples of masonry include the brick or stone on a house, chimney, or freestanding wall. Concrete is a mixture of water, sand, stone aggregate, and other materials, and is poured into forms or moldings. Types of concrete applications include driveways, garage and basement floors, and poured concrete walls in basements and crawl spaces.

The exact cost of bricks depends on the type and size of the bricks you use for your project. Generally, standard clay bricks cost between $350 and $850 for a thousand bricks, or an average of $550. Brick veneer costs around the same for materials but is easier to install than solid bricks, so you’ll save on labor by choosing this option.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.
