Customers say: True professional

"We hired Mario's Landscaping of Cincy to provide a spring cleanup and make some changes in our current landscaping. We added rocks and block edging in some areas and kept mulch in other areas. Mario was great in helping us find just the right rocks and edging that we desired. His crew did a fantastic job in every aspect. We especially appreciated the attention to detail that he provided to make everything perfect and meet our requests and expectations. Also, his pricing was very reasonable. We highly recommend Mario's Landscaping of Cincy. You definitely will not be disappointed."

"If I could give this company a ten star rating I would. QCM was beyond professional. I was selling an 80 acre farm and needed to have it surveyed before we could close on the sale. I contacted QCM and explained my time constraint. They worked diligently, professionally, tirelessly and patiently to get the survey finished and approved by the county in record time. I highly recommend QCM. Every single person I spoke and dealt with was so friendly and professional. I called Ty so many times and he was always so nice and patient when answering my questions. I also spoke with a couple of the surveyors and they were also wonderful."

Small jobs welcome

"I am very happy with LTB construction. I needed my windows replaced this year. After some research I decided to go with LTB. Their windows are the best quality for a very reasonable price. The crew was very courteous, accommodated me around my working schedule. Thank you so much Yuri."

"Kian Architecture and Brian have been an absolute godsend! We were in desperate need of an architect for a project most would find daunting, but it was proven to be no match for Brian. He was quick to respond from the beginning and extremely communicative all throughout this process. Even the building inspector complemented Brian's promptness in getting this project rolling. Our team has never been through something like this before and Brian made sure to take the time to explain the codes, processes, timelines, etc. which will make things so much easier when we need their services again. That's right, Kian will be our go to for any architectural needs. Can't recommend them enough!"

"David has been a pleasure to work with on many of mine and my family's projects. We have him on a retainer since my husband is a contractor. We have/had David complete additions, pole barns, parking garages, office buildings. He has met all of our expectations and always on time."

Architects questions, answered by experts

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

You should have an architect involved in your project from the very beginning. They’ll be able to direct your vision into workable plans, and they can advise you on potential problems right from the start. You may be able to save money by not using an architect, but larger projects will go much more smoothly with an experienced pro directing the process.

You likely need to hire an architect for your new house design and build, unless you have the design skills and experience with building regulations and standards needed to get your plans approved. If you are able to meet the design requirements, you can hire a draftsperson to create the blueprints for the builders to follow.

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.

You can draw your own house plans using three-dimensional modeling software, but in most cases, you’ll need an architect to draw up the final plans. Architects understand local building regulations and requirements, so their plans will be necessary for getting permits approved, and they’ll also ensure your home is structurally sound. DIY house plans can be a good place to start to help visualize your project, but you should always defer to a professional before trying to proceed with the project.
