"The experience was wonderful. Stephen H and his crew went above and beyond installing our new flooring. He explained everything before and after the installation. They finished the flooring in less time than quoted. Love the floors. Would definitely recommend"

"Dustin was professional and very easy to work with. He gave us a timeline on when he thought hed be able to start, and how long it would take him. His estimated timeline turned out to be very accurate. Dustin worked on our floors for three days, and after each day of work he communicated to us what was done, explained the process, and answered any questions we had. We are very happy with how our floors look and I would highly recommend using Dustin."

"Robert from Fresh Start did the most professional and amazing work on refinishing and staining original oak floors in our built in 1958 home. Not only did the floors come out absolutely stunning, he helped us out by starting when we needed him, he was neat and clean and contained the dust from sanding, mixed a custom color that blended the floor in the original part of the house with a later addition, and his price was was reasonable and fair (we had quotes from 2 other companies who could not do the job in the time we needed). Not only that, but our house sold one week later for over asking due in large part to the beautifully refinished floors throughout the house. Thank you, Robert!! I say, give this hardworking man a chance and you won’t be sorry!!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Some flooring companies recycle old carpet after replacing it. The broader flooring industry has been moving toward recycling more carpet material. However, whether an individual carpet gets recycled is up to the flooring company that removes it. When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

The rule of three for flooring means that you should have a maximum of three flooring types throughout your home, such as hardwood in your bedroom and living room and tile in your kitchen and bathroom. The rule brings cohesion to your home and creates a seamless look. By using the same material, you also save money on future repairs.

Clean with a damp mop, avoid excess water, and use furniture pads to prevent scratches.

A stair runner is a length of carpet installed in the center of the staircase, either on top of or in between hard materials installed on the staircase. The carpet doesn’t cover the entire length of the steps, making stair runners an aesthetic choice. Thankfully, if you want hard materials on your stairs to show through, a stair runner will make it safer, as the primary area you walk on will be less slippery thanks to the carpet.
