"I called about my AC in the morning and immediately got a friendly "Hi Greg, How are you doing?". He was able to come out within 2 hours and determined the broken fan motor problem. He went out, came back, and had it replaced in an hour and a half for a reasonable price. To quote Staples, that was easy! He had also been the only one who could come out anytime soon near the end of the year several years ago when it was bitter cold and the furnace was not working well. Supertec gets 10 stars out of 10 in my book."

"Tyler, Andrew M, and Henry came to install a mini split unit for the Master Bedroom. They did an excellent job and cleaned up completely after the work was completed. They kept me informed during the installation process and when complete they made sure that I understood everything needed about the unit, its operation, maintenance, and controls. Finally, they made sure that I had no further questions before they left the job site. At all times they were professional, courteous, and kept things clean. The installation looks great, and I would recommend them for any HVAC work."

"This service was great. My air conditioner went out during the heat spell that we had. My husband has health issues and they came out that night and at 9:30pm the air conditioner was fixed and running. We are sooo very thankful, this is the company I will be using from now on and would suggest them to anyone having issues. Thank you!!!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

When your HVAC system is loud, a few different causes are possible. If you have loose connections or bolts in the hardware, they can rattle as the system runs and vibrates. If you have an extremely dirty furnace filter, it could cause the system to generate noise. More commonly, an excessively loud HVAC system indicates a malfunction in the system. You may have a blower motor that is close to failing or a compressor that is breaking down. These issues require an immediate inspection.

No, you should not attempt to replace an AC evaporator coil yourself. This is a complex task that must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. The process involves handling hazardous and flammable refrigerants, which poses significant safety risks. Attempting a DIY replacement can also cause further damage to your HVAC system and will likely void its warranty. It is necessary to hire a local AC repair professional for this job.

Look up your model number online to find additional information. Usually, you can just take a look at the old filter and find the brand name and dimensions to order a new one. When replacing the filter, always check that it’s pointed the right way to match the direction of your airflow. Many filters have arrows on them to help with this step.

On average, an AC unit lasts between 10 and 20 years. However, the specific lifespan depends on the type of unit, how often it's used, the local climate, and the quality of maintenance. Central AC units typically last 12 to 17 years, while window units have a shorter lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Portable AC units last about 5 to 10 years, and ductless mini-split systems can last up to 20 years. To extend the life of your AC unit, it's important to perform regular maintenance, such as replacing filters, cleaning coils, and scheduling annual professional tune-ups.

High humidity is one of the most common reasons for air vents to sweat or produce condensation. When the cool, dry air from your HVAC unit meets warm and moist air in your home, it will cause condensation. Insulating your ductwork can help prevent this. If you live in a very humid region, a dehumidifier can also help.
