"It went great. Jeff and his team were professional, clean, and efficient. Jeff was easy to talk to, explained everything in detail, and everything went as he said it would. My wife and I began to feel the results within 2 days of the insulation being blown in. I would highly recommend."

"Outstanding. Joseph is a consummate professional who is obsessed with perfection when it comes to his work. He strives for absolute perfection on each job he does for my clients and I continue to be impressed with the extent to which he and his crew do what they do. They deliver comfort and efficiency, and they do so with courteous consideration and regard for their clients. Using any other company to insulate my clients' homes would make no sense at all."

"Very professional. Left everything neat and orderly which can be tough with blow in insulation. Great job insulating on our 100 year old walls and vaulted ceiling. I would recommend no hesitation."

"I liked these guys from start to finish. Very friendly, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves. Didn’t try to add a bunch of extra projects and expenses like other insulation contractors I spoke with. Came in with the cheapest quote too. Insulated my attic and one room."

"I am very pleased with my new windows. I used Home Genius Exteriors to do my roof, gutter protection, and now Windows. This is an absolute amazing company, my salesman brendan was very helpful, Devan the Project Manager helped make sure everything went smoothly. Walter and Mike also from production were very friendly and professional. And Shawn, the window installer was polite, knowlagable, and efficient. And even cleaned up on his way out. Next on the agenda is to get a new door taken care of. Highly recommend HGE"

"Jose and his coworker were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, prompt, neat and reasonable priced. I had 1200 square feet of blown-in Cellouse Insulation in my attic to obtain a R49 value. I would definitely recommend JR Insulation Services to anyone who has the need for insulation services."

"We scheduled them for a particular week months in advance as the project was on a tight timeline. They could not start until after the demo upstairs and had to be done before HVAC installers showed up. Everything was completed on-time and the price paid was as quoted despite having to make a few changes to the plan once the walls were opened. Fantastic company. They want to do a good job and it shows. We were concerned about residual odors from spray foam but there are none. Most importantly the house retains heat with way less fuel burned! We heat primarily with wood and used to have temps drop >20 degrees from the moment we loaded up the stove before bed until waking. Seriously, the fire would burn for hours with the house at 75 degrees after we got in bed, but when we woke, it was 53 inside the house. Now with similar outside temps we don't bother to load up the stove before bed and we wake up it is maybe 8 degrees cooler. I love a morning in the mid-60s compared to the low-50s INSIDE my house in the winter. If you are going to retrofit your house with spray foam insulation, it is a huge and messy job, so be prepared for that. There are little bits of spray foam you have to clean up later, in the driveway, yard, house. You have to live somewhere else for at least 24 hours, but we stayed away almost a week while odors decreased. We had one issue where the AirKrete leaked through the inside of the house wall in 3 location and was not noticed by the crew. We came home to see the job they did and found globs of hardened foam hanging down the walls in these locations. I called Torsten and he reported this had not happened before, most houses don't have holes in walls on the inside, and had they seen it they would have cleaned it up. He came on site and helped me clean it up and apologized, which went a long way with me."

"We needed insulation in our house, and we are really glad that we hired this company. They did a fantastic job. The workers laid tarps down in all the flower beds and when done they vacuumed up everything, including all the remnants in the grass. Excellent work. We would highly recommend Handy Man Insulation to anyone needing insulation. Very professional."

"We scheduled to have an estimate done for insulating our house due to the drafts in our house. The man doing the estimate was on time and professional. and more importantly was honest and told us our house was insulated adequately. There were a few spots above the windows that were lacking insulation. He told us we could spend money to fill those few spots but it wasn't a big problem. We appreciated his honesty and not looking to make a quick buck.

Insulation questions, answered by experts

You should not use spray foam insulation in several specific areas. Avoid applying it in spaces exposed to high temperatures, such as near electrical boxes or recessed lighting, unless the foam is specifically rated for such use. Applying foam near electrical boxes can damage the wiring, and using it too close to lightboxes or recessed lights creates a potential fire hazard. Additionally, do not use spray foam in areas prone to shifting or movement, as this can lead to cracks and gaps in the insulation. Finally, open-cell foam is unsuitable for use below ground or in areas exposed to moisture because it can absorb water, which compromises its insulating effectiveness.

If you’re a savvy DIYer around the house, own the basic tools, and have enough time on your hands, you can definitely install fiberglass insulation yourself. Doing the work yourself will certainly keep overall insulation costs down. However, if you’re not confident in your handy skills around the house, call in a professional.

Yes, proper insulation in your attic or ceiling can help prevent ice dams. When attic spaces are too warm, they cause the snow on the roof over those areas to melt more quickly than the rest of the roof and then travel downward to a colder section of the roof where they refreeze. If less heat is allowed to escape from underneath the roof, snow will melt at a more consistent rate, making ice dams less likely.

Not necessarily. A higher R-value simply means that the insulation has a higher heat resistance and performs better in terms of how much heat passes through the material. This can be better for some homes, or it can be too high of an R-value for other homes. Again, your climate zone determines whether the insulation is better for your home.

The cost to install a radiant barrier ranges from $700 to $2,800, depending on the size of your roof and the type you choose. Most people pay an average of $1,700 to install a radiant barrier. Foil options, both single- and double-sided, cost between $0.10 and $0.90 per square foot, while spray-on options start at $0.60 and go all the way up to $1 per square foot—which can add up quickly.
