"Upon arrival for the free estimate, the team that showed up were very professional. They knew their job and explained in detail exactly what needed to be done. My staircase was missing the handrails going down to the lower level. Next Carpentry inc provided several options and finishes that I could choose from. I choose the wood finish with the oak railing. The job was completed in 2 days as promised. Each day they provided great detailed service. They cleaned up thoroughly after each day. My bottom step was out of plumb and the next day it was completely fixed. I would recommend Next Carpentry Inc to anyone willing to give them a chance. Their estimate was 50% less than the competitors and the lead time was instantly available. The competitors gave a 2 month lead time and wanted to charge more. I am happy I went with Next Carpentry inc."

"He was amazing. He waited two banisters on each side of my opening between my kitchen and my family room. He put it all back together, stained exactly the color that I needed it to be. He was very professional. His work is beautiful. I can’t specify that enough this man Vito truly does beautiful work. I recommend him to anyone who needs intricate wood work done."

"Handymack(Mack Rubio) Handyman services remodeled our bathroom. He removed a single door shower and installed a much larger tile shower. where the smaller shower was he put in tile flooring, sheet rocked the walls and painted them. Also shelving was installed and a door put on. it is now a nice storage space for linens and bathroom accessories. The work was completed in less than a week and we were very pleased with the quality of the work and the expert craftsman ship. We would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a handy man that is competitive on price and gives excellent results. Hats off to you Mack. you are our go to guy when we need anything in the future Thanks for doing a great job."

"Landron Contracting did such a fantastic job that I will undoubtedly hire again and share with anyone looking for a professional, courteous and personable contractor. He checked every detail of his work to ensure I was satisfied when he was done. His fees were reasonable as well. Thank you Angi and David Landron. Finding a good contractor is difficult. Not anymore. I found mine."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.
