Customers say: True professional

"My husband and I chose True Building Performance because of their 5-star rating. We were very impressed with Paul’s timely responses to our calls and questions and the team’s professionalism throughout the process of insulating our attic. Paul and Joe took the time to show and explain to us exactly what the job would entail, and we trust that their work was completed in an excellent manner. It was a pleasure to interact with their team, who were punctual, respectful and considerate of our home. They demonstrated competence and congeniality when interacting with each other which we greatly appreciated. They offered a fair price for the job, and there were no surprises with additional costs. We gladly concur with the 5-star rating!"

Small jobs welcome

"What an amazing experience! It is very rare to find a business with a group of people who are as knowledgeable, personable, professional, and reliable as the family who owns The Climate Chief. I am one of those customers who really do their homework, from buying toasters to installing insulation and everything in between. I also ask a LOT of questions. (Not all vendors love that!) It took me a couple of weeks to find a company that could provide the exact solution I needed for my home. I use the word solution because they did not just say, **Here is the insulation we sell. This is the cost** They actually took the time to evaluate my entire attic and home to find the combination of things that made the most **big picture** sense. I have never received such a comprehensive written proposal from ANY other company in all the years I have lived Upstate. They also gave me a list of add-on options and explained the combinations. I could take all of them or none of them. At no time was there any **upsell** technique or the famous **let me call my manager** nonsense that you often get from service providers. They contacted me with a detailed email the night before the start date to let me know when they would be arriving, who would be on the team, exactly what they would be doing, and how long it would take. Wow. It was so refreshing to communicate with professionals who answered all of my questions and actually welcomed them before the project began and during the installation. I had a specialized attic project that required a lot of expertise. I felt very confident in their abilities for the entire length of the project and would highly recommend Mark {father, founder), Gary {initial consultation/evaluation, son), Bill (job foreman, another son), and the whole team at The Climate Chief. In addition, even though their proposal was much more comprehensive than any other, the quote was not only fair but extremely competitive. I feel so strongly about their work ethic that I authorized the company to give my contact info to potential customers. It is so nice to find a trustworthy local business that I can share with others in the community."

"Dealing with drafty walls and escalating heating costs was a persistent issue in our home, until we discovered Saratoga Cellulose & Foam. The difference they made was nothing short of miraculous. What sets them apart, aside from their exceptional service, is the depth of knowledge and expertise that Travis, the owner, brings to the table. Travis and his team tackled a significant challenge in our home â removing old fiberglass insulation that had been severely damaged by mice. Not only did they efficiently clear out the old material, but they also replaced it with top-notch cellulose insulation containing borate. This choice was ingenious, as the borate makes the insulation unappealing to mice and insects, effectively addressing our pest problem alongside the insulation upgrade. The transformation in our home was immediate and profound. The drafts that once made living spaces uncomfortable are now completely gone. Our house is not only warmer and cozier but also healthier and more energy-efficient, leading to noticeably lower heating bills. I'm thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and skill demonstrated by Travis and his team. Their work didn't just improve our home; it enhanced our daily living quality. I highly recommend Saratoga Cellulose & Foam to anyone looking for top-tier insulation services. They don't just do the job â they do it with excellence and a deep understanding of what your home needs."

"Asked for a quote on removing an old deck, replacing with a larger one. Price quoted was fair, and we accepted. We're very pleased with the final product, and the whole ordeal was hassle-free for me and my wife. Every worker involved was very professional. Communication from start to finish was excellent, and I feel the job was completed faster than we had expected. Will be using this company in the future for other projects."

"Matt was exceptional. He did a great job. Mice in the attic. He secured the areas outside where the mice were getting in. Then he set traps and replaced a vent in the attic. His price was very reasonable and he offers a warranty. I would highly recommend Matt from Got It!!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

When doing a DIY paint job, it can be tricky to achieve the perfect, straight line between your wall and ceiling. There are several methods, including lining it with painter’s tape and using the “cut in” brush tactic. Some homeowners choose to apply a thin line of caulk to the wall-ceiling seam to create the appearance of a perfect line.
