"Will and his crew were communicative and came out when they said they would and performed excellent service. At first inspection and quote, he did a thorough walk through of my yard and helped me determine health of my trees. The crew worked fast and did a good job cleaning up. I highly recommend this service. They removed very tall trees near my roof and never hit my house or damaged anything. Great value."

"This is the second successful service Mr. Giglio and his crew have done on our yard. We called him this week after a snowstorm broke off a major limb on a tree in front yard. He responded to my text promptly saying he was available the next day to swing by, trim 2 limbs, cut up and remove 3 logs and removed all debris. He quoted a fair fee and stuck to it, using PayPal."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

When arranging tree service in Schenectady, homeowners often encounter unexpected expenses related to permit requirements, stump grinding, and debris removal. If trees are close to public sidewalks or utilities, the Department of General Services may require additional steps. Unforeseen issues like root systems near sewer lines can also complicate removal, so consult Schenectady Code Enforcement and a certified arborist before starting work.

Helpful?

For tree service in Schenectady, always wear protective gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves. If working near power lines, contact National Grid and follow their safety protocols. Only trained professionals should operate chainsaws or climb trees. The Schenectady Fire Department recommends keeping a safe distance from overhead utilities and never working alone, especially during adverse weather conditions.

Helpful?

In Schenectady, you generally need a permit from Schenectady Code Enforcement to remove any tree over six inches in diameter or to perform work on street trees. If your property is within a historic district, approval from the Schenectady Historic District Commission may also be required. Always confirm requirements with both Schenectady Code Enforcement and the Department of General Services before starting any tree removal or tree trimming project.

Helpful?

In Schenectady, homeowners often skip required permits or underestimate the complexity of tree removal, especially near public property or utilities. Attempting DIY tree trimming without consulting a certified arborist or the Department of General Services can lead to fines or property damage. Avoid pruning during active growth periods and always check with Schenectady Code Enforcement for local regulations before starting any project.

Helpful?

When hiring for tree service in Schenectady, prioritize companies with certified arborists, proper insurance, and strong local references. Ask if they handle permit applications with Schenectady Code Enforcement and confirm their familiarity with local tree removal regulations. Ensure your written estimate includes cleanup and weather contingency plans. The Department of General Services recommends verifying credentials and avoiding providers who cannot show proof of insurance.
