Sol Foam Insulation, LLC is a member of Sol Enterprises. Since 2003 we have been family owned and operated. Our Foam Insulation division is a highly experienced team equipped with state of the art chemicals and tools to get the job done correctly. We apply Closed Cell Spray Foam into open-wall cavities, crawl spaces, perimeter joists (any exposed rim or band joist), and cathedral/sloped ceilings at an industry leading heat resistance rating of R-7 per inch of thickness. While the product must be installed to local code, the amount of application varies. Our Closed Cell Foam, when applied correctly, creates a vapor barrier, prevents air infiltration and exfiltration, and fully cures to the touch within 15 seconds. Our closed cell foam also adds 75-200% racking strength to your walls!

"Extremely happy! Would absolutely recommend this company and product to my family and friends."

True Building Performance is the Capital District’s top rated insulation contractor. It’s no secret that the combination of our older houses along with cold winters and humid summers, can be a recipe for high bills and uncomfortable homes. Our staff has years of experience identifying solutions and best practices for improving efficiency, safety, and comfort. Let us provide an honest evaluation and help in creating a customized plan for your home.

"The job went great. It took two days; the first to remove and dispose of old fiberglass batts and debris and the second to do the attic work. This included: air sealing the attic, fire protection for all recessed lighting in ceiling, fire rated barrier around chimney, constructing and insulating a new hatch for access to attic, creating proper ventilation from soffits (which had been an ongoing problem) and blowing in approximately 18 inches of new cellulose insulation. The workers (four men) arrived on time, worked extremely well as a team and where very meticulous in their clean-up. I was very impressed by their professionalism and experience in completing the job."

With over 15 years of experience in the home improvement industry, we are the experts you need to take care of your home or business. We handle everything from painting to decks to drywall to fencing. We will treat your home as we would treat our own. Give MP Home Repairs & Remodeling LLC a call today, we look forward to working with you!

"We hired this company for a home remodeling project. While the craftsmanship was acceptable, the experience was disappointing. During the job, the team cut shower panels on top of our brand-new laminate flooring, damaging several tiles. They replaced the damaged sections using our spare materials but didn?t offer reimbursement. The most serious issue was payment handling. We weren?t told payment was due immediately upon completion. My partner, the only one home, informed them he had to leave for class. They repeatedly called and texted, demanding payment within 15 minutes and threatening to rip out the shower if not paid. We were not upset about payment but the aggressive approach and lack of communication. After leaving this review, we received follow-up messages that guilted us, claiming we were hurting a family-owned business. This review reflects the poor communication and unprofessional behavior, not the remodel quality."

Quality, service, and personal attention to detail set us apart from other contractors. At Mike Redding General Contracting, we offer handyman services. We deliver a wide range of services, for any project you can throw at us. There are very few contractors in the Albany area, that offer the quality that we do. I've worked as a carpenter's apprentice for the last two years developing my skill and equipment set. I have experience with handy-man work (changing light fixtures, faucets, doors, doorhandles/deadbolts), furniture assembly, and painting/staining. I have worked professionally installing chain-link and wooden fencing for agricultural, municipal, and residential applications.

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

The best R-value for home insulation depends on where you live and where you’re installing the insulation. Your climate zone plays the biggest role in determining the correct R-value, so be sure to know which zone you live in when determining the R-value you need.

One of the disadvantages of soffit vents is they can bleed warm air from the attic during winter, resulting in slightly higher energy bills and a colder house. There are ways to mitigate this effect—mostly just closing the vent in the fall. What’s most important is your attic is ventilated to some degree in the winter.

When installing metal siding, a high-quality house wrap is considered the best protection against condensation and moisture infiltration. House wraps can increase a home's efficiency significantly. However, a house wrap is not a replacement for a vapor barrier because it can be permeable when moist air passes through siding. This is why it's essential to follow manufacturer instructions for insulating siding when installing new siding.

Yes, products made from renewable resources and with reduced chemical impacts.

2x4 walls can hold R-13 or R-15 batts of insulation, which is usually about 3.5 inches thick. You should also check with your local building codes to see if there’s a required thickness you need to adhere to.

You can also use R-value maps to determine the best thickness and ratings for where you live. For example, someone in Texas doesn’t need as thick of insulation as someone in Montana. Energy Star has a good one you can reference.
