"I looked for a contractor to fix my chimney for 12 months. I interviewed five contractors but I didn’t trust any of them. Finally I contacted Chimney Magic, they came, gave me a fair estimate and I hired them. They arrived on time, fixed my chimney, and cleaned up, I would recommend Chimney Magic."

"They are excellent. They are very good. They re-lined my chimney and did an excellent job. They gave me a stainless steel chimney liner. Very, very good work. They not only swept it but they pulled the old liner out and replaced it with a stainless steel liner.  The price was a little high but I think they did very, very good work. I would rather have somebody excellently rated and I’d rather have something really good. Like I said, the price was a little high but they are really good at what they do. They are multiply certified, by [Chimney Sweeps Institute of America] and several other agencies. Excellent quality. Very good, excellent responsiveness. They are very, very good. I already have an appointment with them for coating the outside of my chimney this August. Three people came out. The workers were nice; they were pleasant. They stuck to the job and got it done. One day to complete the service."

"EXCELLENT!!! They did a thorough job cleaning both chimneys, provided lots of information and answered all of my questions. They also provided a very fair quote to fix the chimney for our wood pellet stove and we will be scheduling that job very soon!"

"Hired to clean and inspect our chimneys in a house we recently purchased. Arrived on time and wrapped up the job quickly and in a clean fashion. Also was kind enough to stick around and answer any questions we had on its operation and maintenance."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Iâ m so glad we hired Paulie and his crew. My 130 year old four story chimney had never been cleaned and was falling apart. Paulie cleaned and repaired the chimney and put in a new flu and did an excellent job while explaining all that he was doing. And for a reasonable price. And heâ s a nice guy."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Some of the most common chimney problems include:

  • Creosote buildup

  • Chimney blockage

  • Deteriorating brickwork or stonework

  • Cracked chimney top

  • Damaged flashing

  • Flue liner damage or deterioration

  • Damaged chimney cap

If you suspect you have a chimney problem, contact a masonry contractor for an inspection.

To get rid of the smoke smell in a microwave, scrape off any burnt food residue and throw it away. Next, warm a cup of water in a microwave-safe container for three minutes. Then, dip a microfiber cloth into a mixture of water and a couple of drops of dish soap and wipe down the inside of the microwave. Dry the inside of the microwave with a fresh cloth and let everything air out for three hours.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

The timeline for fire damage restoration varies significantly, from a day or two to over a year, depending on the extent of the damage. For minor incidents like a small cooking fire, cleaning up soot and removing smoke odors may only take a day or two. Repairing minor damage might take about one to two weeks. However, a major fire requiring structural repairs, full property renovation, and replacement of materials can take anywhere from six to 12 months to over a year. This longer timeline often includes waiting for insurance approvals and contractor scheduling. It's best to consult with your insurance provider and restoration team to get an accurate timeline for your specific situation.

Challenges include ensuring structural safety, completing soot removal, meeting restoration codes, and effectively managing insurance claims.
