"Greg very unprofessional and aggressive. He’ll tell you about 23 times that he has 47 years experience and will make you feel like you’re getting exactly what you discuss. GET EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERY WORD IN WRITING!!! He will tell you one thing and make you feel like everything you discuss in person isn’t a big deal but he doesn’t write it on the contract and will do the bare minimum required. I was charged $600 to have 2 gates changed over to auto close gates. He was supposed to level out my fence seeing that I had a walkway installed after the fence was installed. He told me that’s not a big deal at all. When he arrived (over a month from the day he quoted) he acted like this was never discussed. Side note: He did not install the fence. He was only doing a repair because I had a walkway poured. Thank god he didn’t install the fence! STAY FAR AWAY!!"

For more than eleven years, B & B Fence Company of WNY has been helping Western New Yorkers add value, privacy, and protection to their properties. We’ve built a reputation for quality work at a fair price, and customer service that goes above and beyond. B & B is a family-owned business that can handle any job of any size, and still provide the personal touch you want. We’ll make sure you get the right fence at the right price, get the job done on time, and give you the same craftsmanship we’d want in our home. You have many choices for fences and fence companies. Many of your neighbors have chosen B & B Fence, and they’ve made the right choice.

"HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I had a fence installed by B&B Fence In June of 2018. In December of 18 I lost power to one leg of my breaker. I contacted an electrician who was luckily able to switch some wires around so that our heat and refrigerator were on the working leg for the time being. He had advised that one of the lines did not have voltage and that since it is a private line I would need to contact an electrician who had ground equipment that would be able to detect where the line breakage is. A day later I contacted Brady Electric who advised that the break was right by the meter which is very close to the fence. Brady electric advised that the break in the electrical wire was due to the fence post. He explained that it was torn and that overtime the moisture gets into the wires and corrodes them until the wire fails completely. I was also told that my house would not pass inspection due to the fact that the fence was installed perpendicular to the meter. He advised that if they needed to pull the meter out that there would be no way of doing so unless cutting the fence. The total cost of the repair was $1848.75. I contacted the B&B Fence company to explain the situation. I asked if they had contacted Dig Safe to have the lines marked. Michelle called me back the same day at advising me of the inquiry #. She said that I needed to contact them as this is Dig Safe’s issue not their responsibility. I verified with dig safe that this inquiry was called in on June 7th. When I spoke with digsafe I was advised to contact their field officer. He had advised that NYSEG would not mark this wire because it is a private wire and that they only mark public lines. He mentioned that a lot of contractors hire private wire locating companies to prevent issues such as this. He also advised that since the fence company did the damage is ultimately is their responsibility and they should reimburse me for the damage. He said that is what he has seen most companies do in the past in similar situations with decks, fences etc. Not this company though. I trusted that B&B fence would take into consideration the point of installation and based on experience know not to install a fence so close to a meter box. I wish it would have been brought up to me the potential risks of putting a fence so close to a meter and I would have sacrificed losing a foot or so of my property to make sure the job was done right. This is a huge expense so instead of paying for the fence I almost doubled the total cost now with this damage and huge inconvenience. This company could care less and did not want to make things right. I filed a complaint with the BBB, they ignored letters and phone calls made to them by the BBB and will now have a permanent complaint on their record. There website talks about customer service and how important it is to their business, well, it's a big lie. Please do not risk hiring B&B fence company. They are careless, unresponsive and if there is an issue will completely ignore you and deny any responsibility."

The Vinyl Outlet "Because We Know Vinyl" We fabricate and custom make our own railings and fences. We are a family owned and operated business that takes great pride in the research and development that we put into the vinyl products we use. We have over 22 years of fence and railing ownership and installations. We are the Elite vinyl contractors in the Western New York area. When it come to vinyl trust our reputation and quality buy from the professionals. Purchasing vinyl could be a costly mistake if it is installed wrong or if you hire a railing company that has inferior products.

"Extremely Dissatisfied with Overcharging and Ignored Service Requests I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service provided by The Vinyl Outlet. Not only did they overcharge me by 10 feet of fence, but they also completely ignored my repeated service requests regarding the unlevel fence they installed. After several attempts to tell them, they sent Jake out to measure, and he confirmed that they overcharged me by 10 feet but still did not return calls or send out anyone to fix the fence. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare. To make matters worse, the quality of their workmanship could be better. The fence they installed is noticeably uneven, with sections that are clearly higher or lower than the others. I promptly contacted The Vinyl Outlet to address this issue along with the overcharge the day after the installation over three weeks ago, but to my dismay, my service requests and request for a refund for the overcharge have been met with complete silence or false promises. I have made numerous attempts to reach out to Jake, Vickie, and The Vinyl Outlet via phone, but they have consistently ignored my pleas for assistance and a refund for the overcharge. It is absolutely unacceptable for a company to avoid its responsibility and disregard its customers in such a manner. As a paying customer, I expected professionalism, honesty, and a commitment to rectifying any issues. Regrettably, The Vinyl Outlet has failed on all fronts. Their lack of communication and refusal to acknowledge and resolve the problem has left me frustrated, inconvenienced, and feeling cheated. I strongly advise anyone considering using The Vinyl Outlet to think twice before making such a costly mistake. Their overcharging practices and utter disregard for customer service are red flags that should not be ignored. There are plenty of other reputable fence companies out there that will provide fair pricing, quality workmanship, and excellent customer support. In conclusion, I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with the services provided by The Vinyl Outlet. Their overcharging and failure to address my concerns about the uneven fence have left a sour taste in my mouth and no other options. I hope this review serves as a warning to potential customers and prompts The Vinyl Outlet to reconsider its customer service and satisfaction approach."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you will need a building permit to put up a vinyl fence, especially if the fence is sitting on or close to your property line. You can ask your local building department or  fence installation company if your fence project will require a permit. If so, you can expect it to cost between $20 and $60. Your fence installer should pull the permit for you. Building without a permit could eventually require you to pay again to remove the fence and reinstall it after getting the job approved.

If possible, it is beneficial to paint both sides of your fence to protect the fence more completely from the elements. Painting both sides of your fence will create a more consistent appearance as well. However, the time and cost involved in painting both sides of the fence may cause people to paint only the side they see.

The legal implications of installing barbed wire fencing will vary from city to city. You should check your local regulations to see if barbed wire fencing is allowed, and what restrictions exist. For instance, some municipalities might require that your fence be a certain height and a certain distance from your home.

The first step in choosing a reputable dog fencing company is to confirm that the professional has experience in your particular area and maintains positive reviews online. You should also check the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if they have accrued customer complaints in the past. Additionally, you can ask the following questions to qualify the pro:

  • Do you have experience installing the specific fence material I want?

  • Will you pull permits for the installation?

  • Will you help get a survey done to make sure I build on my property?

  • Do you have a list of referrals?

Wood fences last an average of 15 years but can have a life span of 20 years or more depending on the type of wood used, your local weather, and how well you maintain it over the years. Pine fences will only last five to 10 years if untreated, but pressure-treated pine fences will get you to 20 years. Cedar’s natural resistance to the elements lends it to a remarkable lifespan of 40 years or more.
