"My husband and I highly recommend working with this company. They removed an old driveway for us and re-paved it. It turns out the original paving had no base so they excavated out the dirt and provided the proper base and compacted it. They also piped our gutter and leader system under the driveway and out to daylight. All the drainage details and transitions to existing surfaces was expertly installed. The crew was skilled and friendly. The finished product looks beautiful and we are very pleased. Thank you Leonard, Jessica and sons and crew for a great job."

"Had used Luis some years before and he did an excellent job on rebuilding some stone stairs. So I did not hesitate to use L & Z Masonry again when it came time to redo my asphalt driveway."

"They were honest. The project will be to costly as the whole driveway needs replacing and I agree. I was hoping for a fix but that’s not an option"

Small jobs welcome

"I am super pleased with Bergin Properties work. We had a paver walkway with steps and Belgian block garden beds installed and we cannot stop looking at it. From start to finish, the process and customer service was great. The crew cleaned up and left everything neat while still on the job and communication lines were always open. I look forward to continue working with this company and will recommend to everyone. Great experience overall!"

Customers say: Quick response

"The work turned out great. The joints are tight and lined up well. The corners were curved to add a nice touch so the pavers had to be cut along with cutting the smaller brick border bricks. I had about a 2 foot slope of land under the patio and a large slope for the path and step area. This work was done by 4 guys over two hot July days. The bobcat helped dig and rough level it. A lot of material was moved around along with at least 4 pallets of pavers and the blocks for the steps. To finish it off, they put down top soil, grass seed and hay was placed down to finish the job off very well."

"Mark the owner came to do the estimate. He supervised & worked through the whole job. This was a substantial parking lot and he completed the work quickly. Three things where performed: Paving of the full lot, another separate section sealed and parking lines painted. It was all done impeccably. I would recommend hiring Mark s paving knowing with full confidence that person would be very satisfied."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

Yes, you can put thin pavers over a concrete driveway. However, it's always best to talk to a driveway installer before starting. You'll need to ensure that the concrete below is in good enough shape to hold the pavers and that the driveway will still meet local building codes.

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

Yes, it is possible to pave over an existing driveway, but whether it's the right choice depends on several factors. If the underlying structure of your current driveway is still strong, concrete or asphalt resurfacing can be a cost-effective way to prolong its life. However, if your driveway has significant issues like potholes, deep cracks, or other inconsistencies, it is best to remove the old driveway and start from scratch. Key factors to consider include the current driveway's condition, the compatibility of the new material, the added thickness and height, and the necessary surface preparation.
