"Island Pipes are hands down the best plumbing service around. I had an emergency and they were here immediately and took care of the situation. Island pipes replaced two of my toilets and all of my plumbing in the bathroom. I would not use anyone else but island pipes. I highly recommend this company."

"Snake the Drain plumbing was amazing. I am so glad that my husband and I opted to use this company to fix out hot water pipe issue. Our primary bathroom had a leak that effected several rooms in our house. Louie and his team quickly responded to our call and immediately solved our plumbing issue. Armand even came back the next day to check in on the work that was completed. I am looking forward to being able to work with Snake the Drain plumbing again. Their customer service, timeliness, and fair prices truly qualify them as a top notch company."

"Wonderful from start to finish. He showed up when he said he would and was very neat and cleaned up after each visit. He progressed quickly and is skilled at what he does. He had great suggestions and will do whatever you want. I love my bathroom and would definetly use him again. His help from plumber to electrician were also great choices. I was very comfortable having them in my home. The process was much quicker than I excpected and the end result is beautiful! Thanks again for a great experience Louie! Looking forward to working with you on our kitchen."

"I found John on Anji, after interviewing 4 contractor's my whole family and myself felt he was the right person for the job. With over 40 year's of experience and licensed in plumbing and electrical he can do it all. He's got a great personality and Mike his helper was amazing as well. We've lived in our home for 27 year's and the bathrooms needed to be desperately upgraded. We also had no vents in our bathrooms and had mold issues which is not good at all. Here's some before and after pictures, my whole family and friends are blown away at the transformation and I am so thrilled at John's work. He's very prompt and cleans up at the end of everyday, very respectful of my home. A++++"

"Needed pipes rooted. Showed up on time, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and within 2 hours he located the tank, installed an inspection tube, got into a wall to locate the house trap, and rooted the pipe. Would definitely recommend."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Pipes are connected in a bathroom by a 3/4-inch to 1-inch line running from your water meter into your home. The line then splits, with the hot water line going to your water heater and the cold water line running into your home. The cold water line leads to the 1/2-inch water supply lines for your home’s toilet, tub, and sink. The hot water line runs from the water heater to all sinks and baths.

The best place for a kitchen sink drain is the middle of the sink. Most people prefer center drains because they allow for better water and waste drainage, and the center location limits splashing because water flows straight down the drain hole. If the sink drain is too close to the edge of the sink, water can collect and drain too slowly. It can also be easier to clean sinks when the drain is closer to the center since debris is easier to wash down and doesn’t collect along the sides as easily.

Yes, you can put a bathroom in a bump-out. Some homeowners build a bump-out to enhance their bathrooms with new sinks, vanities, tubs, showers, or linen closets. Depending on the layout of your bathroom and what you’re adding to it, you may need to install new plumbing or reroute your existing plumbing lines.

You don’t need to remove sediment from your water well. Sediment in your water well is normal. The problem is when the sediment enters your water supply. In this case, look into your pump. The size and placement of your pump can lead to sediment in your water. If it’s too big, it’ll overwork and stir up the sediment at the bottom, pulling it into the pump. If it’s too low, it will pull up the sediment that’s settled at the bottom. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual well maintenance to check and test for cleanliness, mechanical problems, and contaminants.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage or shed can increase the value of your house, especially if the garage is properly insulated, conditioned, and finished so that it can serve as additional living space—as a rental property, for guests, or as an in-law suite. However, it’s unlikely that the cost to add plumbing to a detached garage will increase the property value enough to recoup your investment (and don’t forget: you’ll likely see increased property taxes after the renovation).
