"B&N Enterprises Nicholas (Nick) Freeborn did a great job. June 16 we had a storm 100 MPH winds our tree on peak of second story metal roof. Tree had to be lifted off which was done professionally and clean up was excellent and other damaged trees where taken down with no problem in a safe manor. Would have him do more work in the future."

"During this past winter, due to the strong winds we had I had trees that failed down on my backyard. Needed to have them removed. Called a few tree services from n the area, and selected the services because of the prompt response, and price. I was very pleased with Daveâ s being puntual, the service and performance of the job as contracted. I will definitely recommend his service."

"This company was on the ball. Very very reasonably priced and said the project would take 3-4 days. He was done in 2 1/2 days and the work he did was just amazing. The property looks amazing. The cleanup was beyond what I expected and the price was lower than any other estimate."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

A dead tree should always be cut down, because it could fall and cause injuries or damage, and it can also attract insects like carpenter ants. A tree that’s diseased beyond repair should also be cut down, but it’s not always easy for a homeowner to tell. Signs of disease include dying branches, a hollow trunk, leaning, and discolored or missing leaves, but your best bet is to hire a local arborist who can evaluate the tree and tell you if it can be saved or should be cut down.

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.
