Customers say: Quality work

"YES!!!!!!! Contacted Logan because a tree fell unexpectedly in the middle of the night. I was concerned about high winds forecasted for the next day. He gave us prompt service and felled about 8 dead trees near our house!!!! So grateful for his professionalism. Out of 5 stars, I would without hesitation give him 10."

"Unlike some tree services who mainly focus on removing trees, Arbor Care knows trees. In my case I had a non-indigenous Elm that presented unique problems. I was given several options, along with an invoice that clearly laid out all costs. They did not tear up my yard, were very professional, and answered all my questions. I'm very happy."

"I recently had the pleasure of working with B&N Enterprises for some tree maintenance and removal work at my property. From the get-go, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I was connected with Nick, who was my contact person throughout the project. Nick was quick, friendly, and very professional in his responses, making the entire process smooth and hassle-free. The team provided a quote promptly and managed to schedule and complete the job much quicker than I had anticipated. The pricing was very fair, presenting great value for the quality of work provided. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and the efficiency with which the job was done. The scope of work included trimming two trees to ensure uniformity with others in my neighborhood and on my neighbor's property, which they executed perfectly. They also removed a dying pine tree and took care of grinding the stump, leaving the area neat and tidy. The clean-up was done quickly and thoroughly once the job was completed, which I greatly appreciated. The expertise and professionalism displayed by B&N Enterprises are commendable. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any future projects and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of tree care or removal services. The peace of mind knowing the job will be done right and with care is priceless. A well-deserved 5-star rating for Nick and the entire B&N Enterprises team!"

"Dave was friendly and easy to work with. In addition to felling and removing the big tree that I originally hired him for, he also recommended removing a couple of other nearly dead trees. After grinding the stump of the big tree, he leveled and seeded the area as well! I would definitely hire Legacy Tree Services again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.

Sometimes, knowing when you need tree-trimming services is straightforward, and other times, you have to do some investigating. Some tell-tale signs that you should have your tree trimmed include:

  • A poorly-formed tree with unruly branches, which makes the tree appear odd-shaped.

  • A tree with tall or large branches that interfere with power lines or your home’s exterior.

  • A tree that provides too much shade in the yard due to branch overgrowth.

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.

Generally, you’ll want to avoid pruning more than 25% of the tree’s canopy at one time. While pruning your tree is important, it’s possible to do it too often or to go too far. Again, this is why hiring a tree trimming pro to do the work is wise. However, if you do decide to DIY, going slow and trimming gradually is the name of the game.

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.
