Gas and propane water heaters create a few types of combustion gases, but the most dangerous is carbon monoxide. If there’s too much build-up of these gases inside your home, it can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Boilers are used mainly for central heating, and water heaters are used for ordinary household water use. In fact, a conventional boiler works best if your home already has a water heater system in place. Sometimes a boiler can be combined with indirect water heaters. But there are also premade combination boiler heaters.

The lifespan of your water heater depends on the type of water. For traditional water heaters, you can expect it to last between 8 and 12 years if gas or 10 to 15 years if electric.
