"Everything was finished timely and Dave alway cleaned up. I met Dave by accident, had just found out my water softener had filled up with water and was at Home Depot getting sand when I saw Daves truck outside, asked him if he knew anything about water softeners and was he available, he got back to me very soon and started working on my problem. I would feel very confident having Dave do any plumbing job."

"What a great team I had. First Jim on electrical was terrific two new outlets each on their own circuit installed, very neat and professionally done. Next came the installation crew of Tim and Dan, these two are machines. They got right to work trenching the perimeter and then installing the drainage channel. Start to finish job completed in roughly six hours. Job site was left cleaner than I expected when dealing with concrete dust. Won’t know how it all works until water table rises but very impressed with the quality of the work and the people doing it. Thanks to all of you again."

"Excellent workmanship and top notch customer service! First Doug assessed the situation, answered all my questions and worked up a proposal with a couple solution options. Time was spent discussing each option and I was free to make a decision on what option I felt best fit my needs and my budget at the time. No high pressure sales or fast talking. Todd and his crew were professional, punctual and EXTREMELY hard working. When a minor glitch in the process occurred they promptly addressed it to get the project back on track. They were meticulous about clean up and left my basement neater than when they got there. It was a pleasure to work with everyone at All Dry Basement. They have set the bar extremely high for any future contractors I may higher and I highly recommend that you talk with them about any basement concerns."

Small jobs welcome

"Jerry is a great guy. He was super friendly and very professional. We had a space in our yard that needed excavating to prepare for a shed and landscaping. Jerry was very helpful in the planning of the job and made the process seem easy. The finished site was perfect - just what we wanted. He was timely, efficient and professional. I wouldnâ t hesitate to hire him - we will definitely call him again!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

With a one-way cleanout, you can access your sewer line from one direction. Depending on the way it curves, a plumber can either access the side of the pipe that goes into your home or the side that goes to your yard. On the other hand, two-way cleanouts allow pros to access both sides of the sewer line, thanks to their dual-pipe design (they’re usually U-shaped).

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

That pungent rotten egg smell coming from your drain is likely the buildup of biofilm—hair, skin, and soap scum that turns into a black sticky mess. In this case, pouring down near-boiling water, baking soda, and white vinegar will remove the smell. Keep in mind that a rotten egg smell is occasionally a sign of larger sewage line clogs and other related issues.
