"Jerry is a very likeable person and very professional. He came when he said he would and did the work. When the work was done he didn't rush out like he was in a rush. I would recommend his company very well."

"I would have given them 5 stars if they were on time and closed the garage when finished sealing the driveway. They showed up 4 hours late with no noticed. I tried to contact them by phone and email to find out their ETA. No response. I had stepped out for the evening. I opened the garage remotely once I saw them working on the driveway through my Ring camera. They never closed it though when finished."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel.

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Concrete is typically the best material for a driveway if you’re looking for longevity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. But, it’s not ideal for areas with annual freeze-frost cycles, nor is it the most attractive option—although you can get it stamped or painted. If your location is consistently below freezing, asphalt may be a better choice.

DIY is not recommended due to equipment and expertise requirements. Professional services ensure durability and proper grading.
