"Dale, from Upstate arrived to service my AC unit as it was not working. I thought I may need a new AC unit, but he advised me that he should check everything out first to make sure. He did and was able to quickly diagnose the problem quickly and fix it with new components that were not working. Dale was very friendly, knowledgeable, capable and a pleasure to meet. Dale was very honest and did not try to sell me anything I did not need and his workmanship was top notch! I would endorse Dale and Upstate for any of your AC needs and have entered them as "highly capable and honest" in my iPhone address list!"

"I sent emails and placed calls to numerous HVAC companies and waited for days without heat to hear from someone. I linked up with United Heating & AC via Angi, received a call from Rick and discussed my heating needs. Chris arrived to my home 1 hour later, informed me of necessary parts and cost. Job completed in 2 hours. Very affordable will definitely contact United Heating & AC for future heater service and maintenance!!!! Thank You Again!!!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

AC evaporator coils should be cleaned at least once per year to keep your unit in good condition. For optimal performance, consider cleaning them twice a year—once before and once after the main cooling season. More frequent cleanings may be necessary for older systems, units with performance issues, or those in climates with high levels of humidity, dust, and dirt.

While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently.

There are two main reasons your furnace and AC are turning on at the same time. The first could be that you’re confusing the furnace with the blower. The blower is located in the furnace and will turn on to distribute cool air from the air conditioner through the ductwork in the home. This is normal. If the actual furnace is turning on at the same time as the AC and hot and cool air are coming into the home, it could be a result of incorrect writing to a new thermostat or new systems.

Excessive humidity in a room often manifests through visible signs like condensation on windows or walls, a musty or damp odor lingering in the air, peeling wallpaper or paint, and the presence of mold or mildew. Experiencing discomfort due to a consistently clammy or sticky feeling can also indicate high humidity levels.

The simplest indicator is how long it’s been since your last tune-up. You should schedule an annual AC tune-up each spring. Beyond that, there are multiple signs that your AC needs a quick check by a professional. These issues include higher-than-average energy bills, decreased air flow from vents, higher indoor temperatures, and an air conditioning unit that stays on all the time or frequently turns on and off.
