"We had an excellent experience with Wonder Windows. The young man who replaced 28 windows in our double house (Brian) was punctual, efficient, friendly and polite. We were amazed at how quickly his excellent work was done."

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

"This rating is for Residential Window Tint for a large picture window and two standard size windows that receive full sun. The film that is applied blocks harmful UV rays. This is most beneficial to me due to my auto immune disease. I can enjoy sitting in a sunny area in my home with out the effect of harmful UV rays. I love this product. It has changed my life."

"

Dave responded within a short time frame, and arrived promptly as scheduled.

We have an almost-100-year-old house with steel casement windows that use a crank handle to open and close. Based on prior experience, I anticipated having to replace the crank handle on a window that wouldn't close all the way, and wanted help loosening the bolts to get the handle off. However, Dave diagnosed the problem as rusty hinges and rust buildup along the window edges rather than a problem with the crank. So, he saved me from sending for a new handle and replacing it, only to find that wasn't the problem. He plans to come back to de-rust the edges and install a knob to help pull the window shut (which he didn't have time to do on this visit, which we scheduled only to loosen two bolts). My impression is that he's very handy and does know how to fix things; he's also a nice guy with an honest work ethic. I'm glad to have found him, and will call on him again.

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Windows questions, answered by experts

If you decide to forgo your old windows and upgrade them to modern day technology, there may be some people interested in the old windows. You can try selling them on an online marketplace for around $50 to $100 each (so long as the window wasn’t damaged during the removal). This can also help off set the overall price to replace them.

Rotting wood, frame misalignment, or damaged seals often require attention.

The average lifespan for a casement window is around 20 years, but some higher-end casement windows with more durable frame materials can last up to around 40 years before you need to replace them. You’ll need to carry out routine maintenance and window cleaning—and, on occasion, casement window restoration—to extend the lifespan of your casement windows. But they tend to wear more slowly than windows with sliding sashes because the weatherstripping sees minimal friction.

Whether or not you need permission to change the windows in your house depends on your local laws. If you’re enlarging an opening or installing a new window and need to make structural changes to the house, you’ll need a permit. In most locations, you won’t need permission if you’re just replacing a window with another window of the same size. The window installation company you work with will be able to help you navigate any planning permits you may need.

Contrary to popular belief, wavy glass in older homes isn't caused by warping. The blowing technique used to create windows in homes dating back to the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s left behind small bubbles that create a wavy effect. If a glass window is functional, there's no need to consider wavy glass damaged. In fact, many homeowners prefer the old charm of wavy glass.
