"Owner Chris from Rapid Plumbing responded quickly when I called, asking him to replace my toilet. He and his helper did an excellent job, and cleaned up the area completely. Great company to work with. He's my plumber for any future jobs."

"Mako Plumbing goes above and beyond and I for one can say I have used them a lot and they stand behind their work. I had a little problem from a previous repair and they came right away and fixed it even though it was out of warranty. I am a regular customer and they have never let me down. I use Jay and he is the best!"

Customers say: True professional

"I have a 60 year old high ranch house with the main water pipes running the length of the lower level behind a finished soffit wall. We have had a series of pinhole leaks that soak the ceiling and create an expensive emergency call to a plumber. After the 5th such leak, I decided to replace the entire pipe. Joe quoted me the day that I posted the job to Angis. His price was quite reasonable. He started the job shortly after he quoted. He dealt with hidden issues along the way and completed the job, including the repair of the soffit nicely. He is great to work with. I highly recommend."

"Amazing, quick, clean and professionally. The plumber was sure to clean everything during and after the job. He was very polite and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend the plumber I had and seek out other services to be completed in my home from this company in the near future."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A major red flag is a quote that omits permit fees or claims permits are unnecessary for significant plumbing projects. Contractors must reference NY state building codes and local health requirements. Avoid professionals who propose simple cesspool pumping instead of mandatory system upgrades. Any pressure to skip required building inspections is a serious warning sign, as unpermitted work creates severe legal and safety problems.

Helpful?

Updating your system dramatically improves daily comfort and safety. Replacing corroded galvanized pipes restores full water pressure to your showers and appliances. Upgrading from a cesspool to a municipal sewer connection eliminates foul odors and prevents sewage backups. Installing proper insulation and backwater valves protects your Hempstead home from burst winter pipes and groundwater flooding, creating a healthier living environment.

Helpful?

Schedule plumbing projects in late fall to address vulnerable pipes before freezing temperatures arrive. In spring, inspect your system for freeze damage or sewer issues caused by high groundwater. Noticeable changes in water color, taste, or pressure indicate deteriorating galvanized pipes that require immediate replacement. You must also update aging cesspools to compliant septic systems before listing a Hempstead property for sale.

Helpful?

Homes built between 1945 and 1965 possess corroded galvanized pipes or cast iron drain lines that complicate plumbing projects. If your property sits on a concrete slab foundation, accessing under-floor drain lines becomes difficult. High groundwater tables across NY complicate below-grade work and increase infiltration risks. Additionally, properties with aging cesspools or lead service lines demand extensive upgrades to meet modern environmental and health standards.

Helpful?

Thorough plumbing work in Hempstead always includes closed permits and passed final inspections. A local building inspector must sign off on the work to ensure it meets NY safety standards. You should also look for proper venting to prevent sewer gas intrusion. If your project involves the municipal water supply, a certified specialist will provide backflow preventer testing records to confirm your drinking water remains safe.
