"Mike previously purchased supplies and did roofing work for us, and we were pleased. However, he noticed a faulty electrical socket connected to our heat tape and offered to replace it. He requested and was paid a substantial amount to purchase supplies for the socket and stated a return date to be three days later. He did not return, he did not answer any texts, phone calls and emails. Finally, he did respond and gave another return date which was about ten days later but still did not show up or answer texts, emails or phone calls. I am adding to this review: 3/14/2020: I have been reimbursed for the supplies not purchased and the work not done. I have added a separate review but it is still pending. The work Mike did for us was good. The first three times he responded quickly and arrived promptly as promised. Good communication is essential, and the lack of it is why I wrote the negative review. UPDATE 3/16/2020: Our roof was leaking badly. Mike responded to our call quickly, and came to help us on a weekend. He shoveled part of the roof and attended to the horrid ice dam. He returned two more times and shoveled and got rid of two more ice dams. He was a very hard worker and also seemed knowledgeable. I felt that he deserved a good review for the good work that he did on our roof. I also should note that the charge was very high, (hence the lower score for value for money) but we were glad to have someone show up to do the work. He returned the money today that we gave him to do the electrical work. (see other review by James B. - Breckenridge) I do not know why he suddenly stopped responding. I have to add because of that, I would be hesitant to consider him."

The entire base support structure of the old deck needed to be replaced, including attachment points to the home that were rotted due to poor design and flashing of the prior deck. You should always seal cut countertops to prevent damage and to keep them looking their best. The right way to seal countertops depends on the type of material. For laminate and wood, apply epoxy or other specialty sealers by pouring it onto the countertop and letting it flow across the whole surface to the edges, guiding it with a paint stick or putty knife. You will need to move quickly so that it does not dry or harden before you are done. For stone countertops, use a sealant specially manufactured for your type of stone and apply it according to manufacturer directions. 

Baking soda can damage some countertops, but it makes an excellent mild abrasive for removing stains on other countertops. For example, never use baking soda on quartz or glass countertops, but you can use it on laminate and tile. Stay away from using it on quartz because it can scratch and damage the counter, and glass is prone to scratches. Since baking soda is a mild abrasive, you can only use it on certain surfaces.

You should never use gritty or abrasive cleaners to clean your Formica countertops, and the same goes for scouring sponges, steel wool, or anything acid-based like vinegar. Formica can't handle high heat, so never place anything fresh from the oven or off the stovetop on a laminate surface because it will scorch.

Unfortunately, you cannot put hot pans directly on laminate countertops, as the heat can cause significant damage. The heat can cause chips, burns, and marks, plus weaken the laminate. If you do have something hot you need to set down, then be sure you use a trivet or towel as a barrier between the countertop and pan so you can prolong its life.

You can likely use spray paint or a paint sprayer for your laminate countertops. You should prep the space the same way as if you were painting with a roller or brush, making sure to cover any areas that you want to protect with a drop cloth or plastic sheets.
