Brandon was professional and found the issue quickly. He fixed it and replaced the two switches in a little over an hour. Cost was $225.00

With the information I gave them about what happened, they diagnosed my problem and fixed it in under a half hour. (It was a failed neutral connection in an outlet, that caused several outlets and some lights to go out.) I really appreciated having two people show up. That may be why the cost was a tad high (IMHO), but two people almost always work better than one.

New clothes dryer was installed by seller and immediately tripped our circuit breaker. Installer said problem most likely was with our circuit and he could not help because he was not a certified electrician. Terry from Canal Town came to our house 2 hours after we called him. Problem was incorrect wiring of power cord to dryer. Terry re-wired the cord properly and checked for proper operation. He even checked the vent outside to be sure hot air was venting properly. Another excellent experience with Canal Town! We have used Canal Town a number of times over past 6 years and will continue to do so. They have always been very responsive, all their people have been professional and friendly, they have provided quality work, and I believe pricing has been reasonable.

GFCI outlet apparently damaged by lightning strike in our neighborhood.  Outlet provided power to basement freezer so required attention asap.  Canal Town Electric extremely busy with many calls due to storm and they were triaging calls.  Owner was doing small repairs himself and came to our house within 4 hours of our call.  He was very knowledgeable and personal, neat and clean.
We have worked with Canal Town in the past, and have always been very satisfied.

I called on a Friday night after 6pm and was impressed that Terry answered the phone....thought for sure we'd get an answering machine. He immediately identified my buzzing dimmer switch and flickering lights as being an issue with the compatability of today's bulbs with our old dimmer switch. Came out first thing Monday morning.....on time (a biggie with us). ...and quickly replaced the switch.

When Terry came out he was very thorough in checking all of the electrical.  We figured out it was an air conditioning issue, not an electrical issue.  He was great, took his time to make sure he went through everything.  I would definitely call him again.

Canal Town Electric was recommended by our contractor that was here to do some major renovations following ice dam damage this year. I enjoyed a visit by the general foreman, Al, (owner?) and he took a lot of notes as to what I wanted done. He was patient with me and pleasant to speak with. I needed GFI circuits installed into our 1965 home to bring the bathroom renovations up to code. Plus, I was placing an attic pull-down ladder in anticipation of finishing the attic space over the next year or two. There were no lights up there to start with, so it was a "naked install", as it were, for the attic space. Lastly, I had a basement workshop in the furnace area that had no lights. He was going to arrange for new shop lights and switches to make that space actually usable. The basic day-to-day work was handled by Mike, and Terry was the go-to guy to schedule and inspect the work for completion. Terry was very proactive and sought my advice on several occasions as to when it would be appropriate to schedule the 200-amp upgrade since that would require Fairport Electric to get involved for a day-long shutdown. It was very clear that he wanted my input and was going to balance that against the bureaucracy constraints with the Village. I didn't feel like I was bothering him, rather, I felt as though he was willing to work me into his schedule to make it fair for all parties involved. The crew that arrived on the day of the upgrade came early enough to talk to me about where the panel box options would be in the basement. Plus, they mapped out all the overlying circuits in the home as none of the old circuits were labeled. The attic work was done quickly enough. I noticed that I had forgotten to mention that I needed to have the attic wiring installed in such a way as to allow me to someday install plywood flooring up there. He sent a crew back in, on a last minute request, to move the wires around to allow me the space to work in the future. They were patient with me and my wife as we debated the merits of where to place the new GFI outlets in the bathroom and allowed us to change our minds twice until we finally got the location figured out. Mike, the main labor guy, was exceedingly polite and was very careful to make sure my pregnant wife was comfortable enough with the noise that was being made, and with checking with her before shutting down any rooms for electrical work. Lastly, there was a communication oops between Canal Town and my primary contractor that let one upstairs circuit remain open when all the other work was finished. Canal Town came back at no charge and made sure every last light and socket was properly powered (the culprit was one unfinished bedroom socket that simply needed to be closed...quick fix, and he took the time to double-check every. single. other. fixture and socket before calling it done. Great work, awesome can-do attitudes, and appropriate prices. Thanks, guys. Great work.

The installation services were performed by a sub-contractor. There was some misunderstanding about the total price, but it was rectified before the bill was paid.

The contractor was very professional and helpful.  They helped us get the lighting effect we wanted and were very responsive.  There were also helpful with suggestions - trying to make sure that the lighting matched the need without over-spending.
This experience has made them my "go to" electricians.

My service was taken out by a tree and I couldn't get anybody to come out.  Another electrician recommened Canaltown and I called them and Terry came out right away.  He clearly explained everything they were going to do and what the cost would be. When some unexpected problems came up, he called me right away before performing work and charging me extra. He clearly explained what the other issues were and completed the work quickly and professionally.
