We contacted Matt to demolish a very old deck and build a new Trex composite deck, stairs and railing. The entire base support structure of the old deck needed to be replaced, including attachment points to the home that were rotted due to poor design and flashing of the prior deck. When looking for a contractor we researched many options. We eliminated contractors who seemed to only occasionally build a deck, those who had a different primary focus area, and those who did not often do composite decking. Initially, we found Matt's business listed on the Trex website as a certified TrexPro Gold installer. After then reading his positive reviews across AngliesList, Facebook, & Google, and seeing photos of many projects that appeared to be the type of work we were looking for, we reached out. Communication was excellent from the initial quote through completion of the project. The quality of the work and attention to detail was excellent. The project was a notable investment in our home, but we are very pleased with the results would highly recommend Matt to others.

His initial estimated project start and end dates, projected several months in advance, were met quite reasonably, given the inevitable weather and manufacturer challenges. It went fine. We needed to modify the design part way through the project, but even this went smoothly. The builder made sure that there was good communication with the customer (me). The cost was not cheap, but it was worth the cost.

Matt made recommendations that helped solve an issue with my front stair railing. He fit my project in quickly, and his staff were professional and hardworking. I would highly recommend this company to all!!!

We would hire this contractor again in a heartbeat. His work is superb, and is at a reasonable and fair price. He shows up exactly when he says he will and does exactly what he says he will.

Laird installed sheet rock on the unfinished, interior walls of a two car garage, repaired problems with the existing sheet rock work and painted the walls and ceiling. Despite some oddities with the existing sheet rock his crew repaired the discrepancies and completed the work in a timely and professional manner. I really appreciated the attention they paid to the mud work on the seams and fastener holes as they are completely invisible on the finished job. Excellent work.

The front walk on this house was slate slabs surrounded with fill pebbles and the pebbles were constantly migrating into the yard slowly driving me crazy. Mr. Laird gave me a competitive bid and installed a walk with paving stones. His work has garnered numerous complements from neighbors and has really added to the curb appeal of our house. Plus he was able to utilize the old slate slabs in a small patio at the base of the deck he was installing at the same time.

Mr. Laird was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. His crews stayed on task and he was always available for hands-on assistance with our projects. At the same time he was building the deck and patio, we also had him install a brick walk and finish our garage which are reviewed separately. The deck is sturdy, attractive and and just as we envisioned it. I received several lower estimates for this work but chose Laird because of his knowledge of the materials and processes involved. There were no surprises and no added costs to the project.

Laird Exteriors are pros; we couldn't be happier with the results. There was attention to detail in both planning and execution at every step of the way. The cost estimate was right on, despite a number of "on-the-fly" request for changes from us. They were professional and worked hard but they did not clean up everything. I was informed that they would come back to pick up the remaining wood. but they did not.

I have only praise for the work that was done. Matt's craftsmanship is outstanding. And he pays close attention to all the details. He arrived each morning at 8:00am. He and his assistant worked through all kinds of weather... cold, rain and a bit of sunshine! The only time they stopped construction was when it was raining so hard that they got a shock when using one of the electric tools. You know just by speaking to him that he takes great pride in his work. During the final inspection, the town inspector praised his work. We love our new deck, and have absolutely no complaints or issues with the work. I would highly recommend him for any project.

Couldn't ask to work with a better contractor! I am new to remodeling and he made the experience fun and easy. With estimated costs included in the appraisal contract, I knew what price line to stay within to get what I wanted without adding too much additional cost. He's very good at taking someone's ideas and giving the owner a direction to making it happen without over powering the decision. My original idea of what I wanted changed completely as the process progressed into something even better than I first imagined. His attention to detail and wanting to make everything perfect is a home owners dream. I plan on using him for future projects.

The team was there on time, did great workmanship and was within $200 dollars of the estimate. Would recommend them and they will be doing another deck for us at our camp next.

Matt and his crew were on time every day and did an amazing job. They cleaned up and left my backyard and pool area immaculate at the end of each day. The end result is better than we could have ever expected and if you are contemplating a new deck stop looking around and call Matt. My only complaint is that we didn't do this sooner so we could enjoy the deck for the entire summer. I plan on getting as much time as I can out there until the snow falls.

My wife and I found the extra detailed and longer reviews on Angie's list most helpful, so I feel obligated to do the same. Yes, we are very pleased with our new deck as most people are after spending serious dollars. Matt the primary owner of Laird Exteriors, was confident in selling us, but looking back, believe this was based on his being a deck specialist all summer. His price was in the middle of our quotes but it reflected his having installed so many decks and having the process down pat (with no shortcuts as I observed most of the construction). This included experience with the more labor intensive Evolutions Contempory flat rail system we wanted requiring a lot more steps and precision than your standard Trex or Timbertech rail systems (mitered top rail cutting, fitting and only ¼ in of overhang/play in a continuous long rail). That’s just an example, but that attention to precision was also apparently in every phase, including a few curves we threw at him like inventing an under deck storage area door whose hinges wouldn’t warp or break down due the weight of that door constructed of PVC material (to match the skirting of the deck). Keeping this short, there were a few more examples of on the fly requests he figured out and included in the quoted price, like a few inches of rocks and edging to protect the skirt edging from being weed-wacked. And lastly, he held his suppliers to the same standard – forced them to replace two very expensive boards they scratched in delivery – we might not have noticed but he did!
