"It ended up being a water line leak under my house in a wet crawl space and he was professional and never complained. Plumbing work is not cheap but it had to be done. I do recommend them."

"Anderson Water Systems knew what they were doing. They gave me a price before performing the work and they stuck to it. They cleaned up after themselves. I found them to be very pleasant."

"Not good. The water leaks had caused black mold that had to be repaired. When repairs were completed 3 months later, the valves still leaked from the stem when turned on. It was past 60 days so I had to pay another $100 service fee to have the water leaks fixed. He tightened the packing and quoted $350 to replace the valves. Sheesh."

"Well, I had the same problem of water backing up into my basement sinks for the third time in three years, Decided to call Roto-Rooter and give someone else a try. As it was not an emergency(yet), I called the night before and left a message. They promptly got back to me the following morning and two techs were at my door by 9:30AM. John and Jason were as nice and professional as they come, knowledgeable, and and were cleanly in regards to my home. Turns out the previous provider I used mis-diagnosed my problem at least twice and unnecessarily cost me hundreds of dollars, which upsets me looking back. They cleaned a branch drain in my home that connects to the sink, dish washer, and laundry. While helpful, that was not the main problem. After looking at the drain outside my home, the water level in that drain was MUCH higher than it should have been. They promptly cleared the pipe between my house and the main sewer hookup....bang, issue resolved! I have WAY more confidence going forward now knowing my home is a good bit safer from a sewage nightmare! The guys left me a gallon of environmentally safe enzyme to put in all my sinks, shower, and drains that help to break down common household matter that accumulates in your pipes. Could not be happier with the service and would gladly recommnd them to friends and family.

"Originally I contracted with him because we had a lot of water in my basement.  The water was pretty high.  I had a few people off of Angie’s List come look at it and they were giving me estimates between $20,000 to $25,000.  The guy who came in from Concrete Raising gave me some good advice.  He told me not to start with an expensive solution.  He told me to try the sump pump first and see if it would work.  It seems to have solved the issue and it only cost me $4000.00."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks.

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.

Hard water doesn’t hurt, but it might feel more abrasive, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s also about how your skin feels after bathing. You might feel as though you have a sticky film over your body because you do—it’s all that soapy residue left behind because the hard water can’t rinse it off completely.

You can use a commercial water repellent treatment for glass on your shower doors to prevent water spots. Take care to only apply the product to glass. Letting air circulate also helps prevent water spots, as water is less likely to remain on the glass for a long time with good air circulation. Run your vent fan, open a window, and leave the shower door open for about half an hour after using the shower.
