Sewage is backed up again when I called multiple times they said its not their problem (out of 30 day warranty period.) They charged 350 $ for the wax change in a toilet seat !!!! outrageous amount. It is crazy that we have to pay so much money and get horrible service and unproffessional behavior. What is the correct way to report this Bully Business. I need a proper way to complaint / report or take them to small claims court.

This review was amended to include images. What an awful company with terrible customer service! Bauer Plumbing (now calling themselves Roto-Rooter of Syracuse) was called to my residence to clear a leaky/backed up toilet and help make the residence habitable. The problem ended up being more complicated than the technician expected and wasn't resolved. He stayed almost four hours and ended up bringing in very heavy commercial equipment (he needed my help moving it up and down the stairs). The technician damaged my walls before he ever asked for my help with the heavy machinery. After the technician left, I discovered that he had left several pairs of soiled, used latex gloves lying about (in different places) in my home---gloves that had been worn while treating my leaky/backed up toilet. Additionally, the technician neglected to reinstall the bolts to my toilet, leaving it completely unsecured to the bathroom floor. I would later discover that the water main for the toilet was also not turned back on. Additionally, there was a significant amount of refuse/mess left behind on my bathroom floors and walls....as well as soiled tire tracks leading down the stairs from the commercial machinery. I reached out to Bauer Plumbing, I mean Roto-Rooter's franchise owner, Mark Armstrong, who is completely unwilling to offer even a partial refund of the $1603.80 that was paid in cash, up front. Mr. Armstrong stated that the $1603.80 paid does not guarantee that the job would be completed, just attempted. When contacted by BBB, Mr. Armstrong told blatant lies: he claims that he spoke with me prior to the technician starting the job. Mr. Armstrong also claimed that the toilet bolts were not installed prior to his technician beginning the job. Sigh. Such unimaginative lies! I wonder if they sounded better in his head.... Where is it okay to not complete an expensive plumbing job, damage property, leave behind literal waste materials AND get to keep the entire amount paid up front. Bauer Plumbing, I mean Syracuse Roto-Rooter! I take issue with the the $1603.80 that was paid in advance for a job that 1) did not get completed 2) the damages to my property and 3) the dangerous/hazardous conditions the technician left behind (those different pairs of soiled gloves, the lack of proper re-installation of the toilet, etc. I was seeking a partial refund of $400 of the $1603.80 that was paid, upfront (in good faith) but Mark Armstrong is not open to any type of genuine conversation.

Service was fine, but I was given an invoice that was near doubled from the one 5 months prior and also had a date of 12/17/20. When calling the company numerous times over the course of 3 weeks, no on returned my call regarding my concerns.

I had a shower that was backed up. A technician showed up on time the same day. He looked at the problem and told me it would cost about $500. He used a snake through the toilet and could not find the problem. (Bringing the machinery in, there were several spots on my carpet.) He wanted to use a camera but had to go back to the shop and get a battery. He ended up not using the camera. He called in a second technician who we had to wait a half hour for. He did the same procedures to no avail. They did not solve the problem and charged me over $700. I had another company come in and they solved the problem in 20 minutes!

Made the situation worse and had to shutoff water. Could not use shower. Wrote complaint to local company and group Hq in Ohio. Restitution pending. Company is listed in BBB as not responding to complaints. Technician was incompetent and really had no idea how to fix or offer repair kit. Used channel lock pliers to remove chrome spacer which he damaged and knocked out of round. Could not turn on faucet again, still leaked and offered nothing on how he would obtain a full repair kit.

Left a message on a Saturday evening. Dominic called back in 10 minutes. He arrived in about an hour and was done in less than an hour cleaning a blockage from the sewer line. Cost was very reasonable. Would definitely hire them again.

Response from Roto Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service
"In response to [Member name removed] complaint, she did call us to have us return five days after the original visit due to her sewer backing up again, she was provided with a warranty so we gladly returned to investigate and fix the problem. she called again approximately two weeks later when we return we discovered that the wet ring on the floor was from soap suds from the washing machine not a sewer back up. We poured multiple 5 gallon bucket's down the drain, everything was flowing properly. Unfortunately the customer never approached us about a senior citizen discount so I can't respond to that. Enclosing the customer was not charge for the two return visits to investigate continual sewer back up's. We appreciate her as a customer and would hope to do business in the future ."

Well, I had the same problem of water backing up into my basement sinks for the third time in three years, Decided to call Roto-Rooter and give someone else a try. As it was not an emergency(yet), I called the night before and left a message. They promptly got back to me the following morning and two techs were at my door by 9:30AM. John and Jason were as nice and professional as they come, knowledgeable, and and were cleanly in regards to my home. Turns out the previous provider I used mis-diagnosed my problem at least twice and unnecessarily cost me hundreds of dollars, which upsets me looking back. They cleaned a branch drain in my home that connects to the sink, dish washer, and laundry. While helpful, that was not the main problem. After looking at the drain outside my home, the water level in that drain was MUCH higher than it should have been. They promptly cleared the pipe between my house and the main sewer hookup....bang, issue resolved! I have WAY more confidence going forward now knowing my home is a good bit safer from a sewage nightmare! The guys left me a gallon of environmentally safe enzyme to put in all my sinks, shower, and drains that help to break down common household matter that accumulates in your pipes. Could not be happier with the service and would gladly recommnd them to friends and family.

Discovering the issue I called Roto Rooter on Salina Street, Syracuse NY. I had a timely response and a repair tech appeared within 2 hours. Using his machine, a clog was discovered. He explained that he cleaned out the entire sewer pipe from the house to the pipe in the yard and that from there to the road was clear. This gentleman was very polite, neat and informative. He left me with a gallon of clog prevention to use once a month for prevention. The price seems to be about what they all charge but I still think it is excessive for this issue. I did have a coupon so that helped. I would definitely use this company again.

The service took two hours and we receive a free pipe shield liquid drainage. A $50 dollar value and a guarantee 30 day labor warranty. I had $50 dollar coupon mail to me from Roto Rooter for using there service in the past. Good company and professional people. Give them a try I think you'll be glad you did.

I called this provider and was told someone would be out within the hour. Unfortunately he did not show up when she said but did show up that day. That was really my only complaint. I was waiting and I did not receive a call to say he was running behind etc. I had to call to make sure he was still coming. But they did do the same day service. He worked at the problem for quite a while and eventually figured out what the problem was. He offered to go to the local hardware store to get some items if I didn't want to fix it myself but reminded me it would cost me more money. I think he was anxious to get to his next job so I told him I would take care of it myself. All in all the service was provided same day which I appreciated and the issue was resolved.
