"First and foremost the job was done professionally from the start. I liked the fact that Joe himself came to give the estimate versus someone else within the company that may not have been able to give me a quote on site. Since the work was being done to our seasonal home 4 1/2 hours away, he was able to accommodate my schedule to meet and go over the job. There is sometimes an uncomfortable feeling you get when dealing with some contractors especially when you can't be there when the work is being done and a question and/or concern arises. I did not have any concerns with Joe or his other workers about getting the job done right the first time, on time and exactly as quoted. Call it a good gut feeling. When I was able to get back to the site, they left the site cleaner than they found it and the work looked great! With the help of Home Advisor this is the second contractor that I have hired and have had great results. I would highly recommend Joe's Plumbing. Good people."

"I have a new construction home and had Proseptic do our septic installation. They came highly recommended by friends of mine and I could not be happier with the work performed. The crew was on time, efficient, knowledgeable and fun! They were great with my 5-year-old son and let him see the machinery and explained to him what they were doing and how a septic system works. I highly recommend Proseptic for all your septic needs. I will absolutely use them in the future for all pumpings!"

"Was able to schedule a free consultation immediately and they looked through the basement to talk through possible mold issues. Turned out we didn’t have a mold problem but he answered all of our questions and was very kind!"

"I love this virtual service. My Whirlpool Duet was flashing an error code related to the drain pump. After cleaning the pump, the error was still showing. I set up an appointment with Neli and spoke with a very knowledgeable representative. He assessed the machine and was able to determine the likely cause of the error. After the appointment, I was sent information on ordering the replacement part and how to set up a call to install the new pump. I would use Neli in the future for any appliance issue!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

First, you can try unplugging the two sump pump cords, one for the motor and one for the float switch, then plugging them back in to reset the sump pump. You can also reset the sump pump by turning it off and back on at the breaker. Many sump pumps have a reset button, which you can press and hold for a few seconds to reset the device.

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

A sump pump battery backup can typically run for 6 to 24 hours. The factors that affect its runtime include the battery capacity and pump usage.

When purchasing your backup system, take these factors into consideration to determine which system is best for your home. If you live in an area with frequent and long-lasting power outages, consider a longer-lasting backup battery.
