"Pumped out septic tank. Everything from scheduling to the actual pumping went well. The driver/worker was very knowledgeable about keeping a healthy supply of bacteria and enzymes in the tank."

"All in all, I'm very happy with the responsiveness, neatness and the workmanship I received: When I called at around 7 to 7:30 am, I got the answering service who was pleasant and she took down the necessary information. I'd say that within an hours time, the owner called me back took down some more information and gave me some options as to what type of WH options I could go with should the WH have to be replaced. He also emailed me some WH literature. He said that by 10 AM he could have someone out to check the WH and sure enough, by 10 AM, Tom, the plumbing mechanic was there. Tom first checked if anything simple was causing the leak (i.e. check the pipes and connections leading to the water heater). Unfortunately, it was in fact a faulty WH tank. So he then sent the serial numbers of the old WH to the office to check if it was still under warranty. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty (it was 10 years old). So he consulted with the office and very shortly after that, I had an emailed estimate to consider of the various options - tank-less vs tank. While considering the options, Tom offered to drain the 75 gal WH. I asked what that alone would cost should I not go with their outfit. He said it was complementary. After I decided to go with their outfit, they were able to install it that same day. It arrived within an hour or two and it was pouring rain! Now for the worrisome part... how are they going to not make a mess or drop it getting the old one out and the new one in with 2 flights of stairs to contend with... a full set of basement stars and stairs leading up to the deck off my kitchen. Tom laid out card board in the house and they were able to get it out and in without making any mess. Both Tom and the delivery person also wore shoe covers. Finally, once the new WH was down the basement, Tom plumbed it in and did a nice neat job! Since the WH was not a simple drop in, he had to do some adjustments to the PEX water lines; the copper leading up to the PEX; the 4" PVC ventilation pipe and the gas line to the WH. He also had the right tools to work with my PEX (Brand: Wirsbo) so he was able to use the fittings designed for that type of PEX so it looks like a pro job."

"Quick fix on the tub drain and thorough inspection of cold water lines to locate failed expansion tank as cause of air in water line refilling _noisy_ commode.
Took a couple tries to get him here including a 'no-show, no-call'  Owner was most apologetic and citing "no-heat" calls.

"Plumber arrived on time. He repaired the leaking pipes and replaced the toilet tank flapper and valve. The toilet flapper replacement alone didn't completely correct the problem. So the plumber replaced the valve apparatus. He made sure the leaks were fixed by rechecking them just before leaving. Excellent work! Would hire again!"

"Takes for ever to get a return a call. Also took a week to get someone out for repairs. They said they would reimburse me for septic repairs and it took over 3 months for that to happen."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A septic perc test is done by drilling a hole into the ground, filling the hole with water, and testing to see how long it drains. While simple, the test itself provides a great deal of information about your yard. The last thing you want to do is skip a perc test only to discover your yard doesn’t drain sewage effectively.

Certain foods are easier on your septic tank than others. Septic-safe foods include yogurt, fruit, cooked veggies, and bread because these items all break down relatively easily and can pass through your system safely. Rotten tomatoes, specifically, are actually good for your septic tank because they can increase the amount of good bacteria in the system.

A leaking well pipe is quite different from if the well itself is leaking. To seal a leaking well, pour a cement mixture or bentonite into the space between the well casing and the borehole wall. The heavier cement collects at the bottom to form a solid seal, pushing lighter materials like mud and fluids up toward the surface. Professional well installation companies have the equipment to do this properly.

Yes, it is generally okay to oversize a well pressure tank, and it will not harm your well system. The primary advantage is that a larger tank reduces frequent pump cycling, leading to longer, slower cycles with fewer startups. This can result in less wear and tear, potentially increasing the lifespan of the pump and conserving energy. However, there are drawbacks to consider. Oversized tanks have a higher upfront cost and require more physical space. While not necessarily a bad thing, opting for a tank that is appropriately sized for your well is often the most efficient choice in terms of cost and space.

Conventional anaerobic septic systems are the most cost-effective and least expensive type, with installation costs typically ranging from $3,000 to $8,000. For comparison, sand filter systems cost between $7,000 and $18,000, while mound systems are the most expensive at $10,000 to $20,000. Several factors influence the final price. The tank material is a key consideration; plastic tanks are the most budget-friendly option, starting around $2,900, but concrete and fiberglass tanks offer greater durability and longer life spans at a higher cost. The size of the tank also affects the price. For example, a 1,000-gallon tank costs between $900 and $1,500, whereas a larger 1,500-gallon tank costs $1,500 to $2,500.
