The largely rural area of East Mountain attracts property owners thanks to affordability and proximity to Albuquerque, not to mention the epic natural scenery. Unfortunately, its cooler climate and wide open spaces mean properties are more vulnerable to the elements. When you own property in the East Mountain area, harsh weather can lead to water damage. Whether it’s from an appliance malfunction or a rain storm, water erodes your building materials and causes mold to grow inside your property. When water damage disrupts your home or business, it affects the wellbeing of your building and its inhabitants. As the property owner, you worry that repairs could be daunting, time consuming, and expensive. Don’t let water damage take over your life. Call our IICRC-certified experts at 911 Restoration of East Mountain for commercial or residential repairs, 24/7/365 days a year. We’ll even have a professional at your door within 45 minutes or less. Contact us for same-day service in Cedar Crest, Edgewood, Moriarty, and the surrounding areas. Call us at (505) 738-1789 and allow us to offer you a free visual inspection.

"They did a great job. The house I inherited had mold in the whole house and they did a great job at getting it to pass."

We are a 'turnkey' building company, Gorgeous Remodels, Beautiful New Construction, Fire Restoration, Kitchen Remodels, Bath remodels - plans, permitting, and construction with 30 years of experience with 100's of completed construction projects.

"I made two mistakes when I hired this contractor. I signed a contract with no finish date. And I also agreed to give him a very large sum of money initially and after the slab had been poured! The garage is halfway done and this contractor has failed at following the garage plans in two ways. First he used an insulation around the slab and footings that was not included in the garage plans. The second is that the plans call for 2"X4" construction and the contractor bought both 2"X4" boards and 2"X6" boards for the frame. The 2, two by six walls came out fine; but the 2, 2"X4" walls are sitting on mostly insulation and are not structurally sound. The frame failed an inspection. The contractor did not stay for the frame build and now is accusing his subcontractor of not following his directions. The contractor refuses to pay the subcontractor saying he made an error on the frame. This contractor has over $35,000 and has not returned my calls in going on a month and had done nothing to fix the frame in going on two months. This guy has given me false hope twice saying that he has scheduled the framers to come fix the frame, only to find out he hasn't even talked to the framers! I wasted my time waiting for framers when he hadn't even asked them to come out. Worse, when the framers asked for the original amount of money this contractor agreed to pay, (which wasn't much), he told them he was going to try to get the money together. He has an awful amount of my garage money to be telling people that he has to "try" to come up with the money. To top all of that off now the contractor is upset that I am trying various venues to get him to finish the job, including CID and obtaining a lawyer. My last communication from this contractor was a text saying he was in a difficult place and finding it difficult to deal with my "very tight budget." He has taken no responsibility for straying from the plans in two ways that upped the budget, (the insulation and the 2"X6" boards). In themselves not bad, but I wish he would just do what he said he would do. All I want is the garage finished as per the contract. I look outside and see a structurally unsound frame that is exposed to the elements for going on two months, trusses on the driveway floor and no other work being done. And the cherry on top is that this contractor continues to solicit more work and posts multiple times a month on Craigslist."

Home inspections FAQs

It’s important to get a home inspection when buying a home because home inspectors are trained to examine the various aspects of a home to determine that everything is in good condition and find unseen problems that current homeowners need to fix before the home sale takes place. Although home inspections are not legally required, a thorough inspection can help you decide if you want to purchase a home. That’s why it’s essential to keep a home inspection contingency so that you have the option to walk away from the sale if the home inspection reveals expensive issues.

A home inspection typically includes the home inspector conducting a thorough visual examination of essential home structures and mechanical components. Afterward, the inspector will provide a home inspection report that relays descriptions of damage or other findings for the homeowner to review.

Home inspectors will examine the following home areas and features:

  • Plumbing

  • Electrical

  • Foundations

  • Roof

  • Windows and doors

  • Overall condition of interior and exterior

  • HVAC systems

  • Attics

  • Basements or crawl spaces

  • Major built-in appliances

Typically, a licensed and certified local home inspector conducts home inspections. Real estate agents often work closely with trusted home inspectors. Licensing requirements vary from state to state for home inspectors, but they must have local certification and valid insurance. Many licensed home inspectors belong to professional associations like the American Society of Home Inspectors.

Typically, the home buyer pays for the inspection by hiring a home inspector. This method helps you make an informed decision about a home’s condition before purchasing it. Home sellers can also conduct their own home inspection to ensure that they are getting the best price for their home and property.

On average, home inspections cost about $350, ranging from $200 to $500, depending on the home’s size, age, and location, plus any specialty inspections required. Additional cost factors include testing for asbestos or conducting thermal imaging tests to find infestations, checking energy efficiency, and looking for structural or electrical problems. If your home is more than 2,000 square feet, you can expect to pay $400 or more.
