Hawk Inspections showed up at the appointed time to inspect the roof of my older home.  The inspection lasted about 20 minutes.  I stood on the ground while it went on.  I got an invoice and a letter that reported the results of the inspection about ten days later. The information in the report was somewhat helpful.  Later when roof work was done, much of what was in the report wasn't correct, but problems arose only when removing the tar and gravel & weren't easily seen.  All written communication from Hawk contained License numbers and certifications as to qualifications of the company (well above average impression!).  The voicemail message at the company was very unprofessional and silly.  The report letter had typographical errors and some misinformation.  My overall impression is that this provider is so-so.

If you don't really want to buy a house, use this man.
If you want an objective, proffessional report on a property, find someone else.
I take full responsibility for this analysis. If desired, I will provide a more detailed analysis of his work.
Response from HAWK Inspections LLC
"{Member name removed} is not now and has never been a client of mine, nor has he contacted me directly, nor have I met or spoken with him. He MAY be the SELLER of a house I inspected which had a number of serious defects, including active roof leakage. BUYERS, not SELLER, are my clients, and occasionally SELLERS are not happy with the results of a property inspection, or with the decision of a prospective buyer to withdraw from the transaction. In my 30 years of experience in property inspecting, buyers cancel contracts fewer than 2 percent of the time, and usually for non-frivolous reasons. The potential buyer for this property had other objections with it and soon after this inspection hired me (at a discount of course) to assess another structure (virtually defect-free). She closed on the property and has happily occupied it since. Had Mr. Rockwood taken the time to contact me personally I would have responded to any questions, even though we had and have no contractual relations. I take exception to his evaluation of my knowledge of solar structures (I was one of the first members of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association in the 1970's) and to my expertise concerning radiant in-floor heating systems (unimpeachable in New Mexico's 1st Judicial District). My job is not to please a seller/owner or Realtor, it is to disclose existing conditions and in doing so to educate and protect my clients. My reports are still the best in the profession as anyone who visits my website jeffreyhockersmith.com can determine for his or herself. At the very least they are [sic] "proffessional" (his spelling)."

Mr. Hockersmith performed an inspection for a home under contract.  He spent all afternoon inspecting the smallest details, from roof to basement.  He was INCREDIBLY thorough.  Moreover, he knows construction and technology very well, as well as construction practices for this area of the country.

Jeff Hockersmith runs Hawk Inspections LLC and does full service home inspections.  We hired him to inspect a home we were planning to buy.  He is a former general contractor with extensive experience in home construction. He did an outstanding job.  He was able to schedule us promptly, and he arrived on time.  After doing a complete evaluation, he then walked through the house with me to explain his findings.  He also took this opportunity to explain some of the mechanical systems and make maintenance recommendations.  This was very helpful. He was professional and a great communicator. He then provided a comprehensive written report as a reference.   As a new homeowner, the personalized walk through was a great experience. I would highly recommend him for home inspection services.
