Customers say: Quick response

"Troy & Devin fixed my bedroom ceiling (there was a gap when the house settled & my ceiling began to sag). They removed and replaced my window sills and frame (water damage due to rain & weather), drywall, texture & paint. Troy replaced my celing fan, mounted my tv, replaced my curtain rods, door and lock. Loving my bedroom!"

"We had multiple quotes for new windows on entire home. Tonya with Champion Windows gave us a quote and was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable on their products. She showed us what sets Champion apart from other window competitors. The quality and craftsmanship of product offered was very impressive. Top 3 selling points for me (in order) were: 1. Made in USA and U.S. owned product, I currently serve in the military and this is very important to me. 2. Lifetime warranty with excellent terms of warranty, better than all other quotes we received. 3. Value and quality, everywhere else had either quality or value (cheaper build). If you wanted quality alone you will pay a premium. Champion offers a premium product at a reasonable price and value. For all our searching I believe we are getting all we looked for at good price. Piece of mind is the warranty. I am a very competitive shopper who looks for quality without breaking the bank. Will update review upon completion of installation. Thank you Champion! Sincerely, Lew M."

"Install process went smooth. Anytime I called they were always very helpful. Only real downside was that the glass break sensors didn't adhere to the wall well. Support recommended screwing them to the wall and that fixed it."

"Great -- I have a large window (~3'x6') that sits at an angle over a garden tub that was leaking and needed to be replaced. I hired Just Stucco and Windows based on all the positive reviews, and I was not disappointed. They were always prompt, professional, and polite, and did a fantastic job on the window installation as well as the stucco repair around the window -- the color and texture is such a close match to the existing stucco you can hardly tell any work was done. Unfortunately, due to the slope of the window, water collects in the recess between the window pane and the frame and has nowhere to go, so it leaked shortly after installation (where the glass meets the frame). I called James and they came out to recaulk the window. Although it hasn't rained since then, I'm not sure if it will leak again, but I'm 100% confident that if it does they will come right and to make it right. Thank you James and your staff, I will definitely call you in the future when I'm in need of window and/or stucco work."

"PHC does very good work. They are very responsive, except they don't work on weekends. I think he is competitively priced. All of my neighbors use him too. They have always arrived on the day they said they would, and if they are going to be late they always call to let me know."

"Reule Sun did a FABULOUS job on our house, with incredible attention to detail, extremely thorough preparation, total job-site neatness and cleanliness, lightning responsiveness to any issues which arose, and a very high level of craft. The workers were polite, respectful, friendly, and very conscientious. You will pay for this. But we found it more than worth the difference. After watching our job, the neighbor across the street has hired them for a complete stucco job and also new windows. (If your windows are within shouting distance of needing replacement, do these just ahead of the stucco job.)"

"Terrific! From getting a bid to delivery of the left over shingles, Ben and Lynette were responsible, professional, and patient with me. I took a lot of time, almost three months getting other estimates-6 of them-, since many other roofers were unable to even bid the job for up to a month. Never did I feel hounded or forgotten by them. They arrived promptly at every scheduled meeting, and kept me abreast of any schedule changes. I learned so much in our meetings from their descriptions of the work, and their bid was by far the BEST I received in Santa Fe. I was initially concerned about having them come up from Alb., but honestly this was the best decision I made last year. They picked up after each days work, and I was pleased that there wasn't any damage to my landscaping at all! The crew was hardworking, polite, and took pride in their work. The only unexpected thing was that the material they used for the underlayment was different than what was listed in the contract, which worried me. I researched it online, and talked to them about it and they assured me that RhinoRoof U20 was equal if not superior to the Owens Corning that was written in the contract. They were also very gracious and understanding for that feedback and understood that since I'm not a roofIng professional that I would be concerned. So much of the time you feel bad just questioning something, and then the "experts" make you feel bad for asking! They allowed me to choose a designer non stock shingle color too, that took extra time coming from Denver. It is a BEAUTIFUL roof and I will promise to give feedback if my roof needs any service in the next 10 or so years. The shingles have a 25 year warranty, so hopefully all is well for many years to come! I can't say how much I appreciate this company and how wonderful the new roof is!"

"We hired Total Blinds after receiving 2 bids. Adrian was an excellent assistant as he was extremely knowledgeable about the products they offer. He went the extra mile with demonstrations between the various products. We will have them back in the future to tint other windows in our home with the same Huper Optics window film..,,....fabulous product and very much worth the extra $$. Total Blinds is the only operation in town that offers Huper Optic......we are sold!"

Glass and Mirrors questions, answered by experts

The average mirror has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. After that, the coating begins to deteriorate, losing its reflective properties. Acrylic mirrors have a slightly shorter lifespan of seven to 10 years. Higher-quality acrylic sheets with UV-resistant properties have lifespans similar to those of your average mirror. By maintaining your mirrors and keeping them out of direct sunlight when not in use, you can extend their lifespan. Some mirrors can last for decades.

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

Prior to the middle part of the 1900s, glass manufacturers used a technique that involved blowing glass into cylinder shapes that were then flattened out to create sheets used for windows and doors. This technique often left behind ripples and inconsistencies in the glass.

Rubbing alcohol on its own will not remove scratches from glass. You can, however, combine rubbing alcohol with baking soda—in a one-to-one mixed ratio—to create a paste that will help get minor scratches out of glass.

The easiest way for DIYers to smooth the edges of cut glass is to use sandpaper. Wearing protective gloves, gently sand the sharp edges smooth using low-grit sandpaper and working up to high-grit sandpaper. You can also use a multitool with a rotating sandpaper cylinder to make quicker work of the project.
