"Our second story decking was leaking water into the house and the red wood decking was rotting. Sandia Buiding Solutions was extremely diligent in repairing the roof, double coating the entire area and leak testing. They recommended and installed a Trex Decking System in an expert manner. Excellent customer service, the owner dropped by on mulitple occasions to inspect the work. The outcome is exceptional."

"Ecosol replaced my roofing after wind damage caused issues with my roof, I contacted this company for a replacement estimate. Their pricing was very reasonable compared to other quotes I received, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. The crew worked efficiently, completed the job quickly, and the new roof passed inspection without any problems. I was impressed with their professionalism, communication, and quality of work. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing roofing repairs or replacement."

Small jobs welcome

"Shai and crew restuccoed my house EXACTLY the way I wanted it done, and at a very reasonable price.
What was unusual about this job is that a previous handyman had used silicone caulk to cover minor cracks in the surface of the original stucco, and the caulk looked really  bad.  The contractors I interviewed who wanted to stucco over the cured silicone caulk were not hired because I didn't want to take the chance that in 10 or 15 years, the stucco would start failing.  Shai agreed to remove the silicone caulk from the surface BEFORE starting the restucco.  It was a pretty miserable operation, with masonry dust all over everybody, but the removal of the silicone caulk was done to my satisfaction.  The crew then did a masterful job of restuccoing.  They beautifully stuccoed the roof parapets too.
They also matched the trim/garage door paint to the stucco.  The house looks better than it did brand new!

"They did a great job. Quick, professional and great value for the quality of work. The job had very difficult access issues, cleanup required carrying material a long distance down a steep hill. Some contractors would not even bit on the job due to access issues. Green Mountain had no problem. This was a old roof from the 1970's and had a number of patches and attempted fixes which were not of high quality. Green Mountain cleaned off all the old roofing, and noted that the original roof had a design flaw that caused bad drainage. They suggested an easy fix which added several new outlets for water. Their suggestions were a great idea and I had them do that also. They also patched and repainted the inside water damage areas. Their work was such that I no longer even notice that there was water damage which is exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend them."

"Green Mountain worked closely with me to put a new roof on Papa's house. I live in Oregon and Papa is in New Mexico. Green Mountain set pictures of daily progress as well as any problems they found when tearing off the old roof. Great guys and a pleasure to work with."

"We had them perform maintenance on our flat roof and remove our tile area and replace it with a metal roof. Very professional, done quickly and correctly. Also painted all the penetrations to match the roof color."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

Winter is the least expensive time of year to replace a roof due to decreased demand. However, it’s not an ideal time to replace your roof, as there are numerous factors that can inhibit the work, including shorter days, snow and ice, and cold temperatures.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.

Asphalt shingles, wooden shakes, and slate or clay roofing tiles are often replaceable without having to replace the entire roof. It's possible to replace just a few shingles or tiles without much trouble in the case of wind damage or other minor problems. DIYers can perform the task in some situations. However, professional repair is always the best bet when it comes to roofing.

The short answer is, yes, cedar shakes do last longer than asphalt shingles. But the long answer is, it depends on maintenance. Asphalt shingles last about 20 years, while cedar shingles typically last about 30 years with proper maintenance. If they are very well maintained and installed in an area with a mild, drier climate, they can last up to 50 years.
