"I called Beucler for an estimate on removal of two tree stumps. There was one very large stump in our backyard and a smaller stump in our side yard. I left a message and received a call back immediately. They came by while we were at work to look at the tree stumps we wanted removed and left an estimate in our mailbox. The estimate was reasonable and we called them back to schedule a time. We didn't need to be home for the work to be done, so we scheduled a day the following week for them to come by and grind up the stumps. Very happy with the work that was done, the price and the timeliness. Was so easy since we didn't need to be home for them to provide an estimate or do the work. Would use them again for tree work, and would recommend them to neighbors.

"After Hurricane Isaias I requested professional services from Home Advisor and Angie's List. The Home Advisor pros never contacted me. I called Morales Brothers from Angie's List recommendations. I had a HUGE tree that fell over from my neighbor into my backyard. A rep from Morales Brothers promptly came over to look at my property and gave me a very reasonable estimate. Then they showed up as agreed for the job. They were on time, extremely polite and did an OUTSTANDING job. They also cleaned up everything afterwards. My neighbor watched them doing my yard and hired them as well. They are coming back in a few days to do my neighbor's backyard. I HIGHLY recommend the Morales Brothers service. I will definitely be calling them for all future jobs. Call them! You will not be sorry!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.

On average, tree removal costs around $750, with a typical range between $200 and $2,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the tree's height, trunk diameter, species, and overall health. Accessibility is also a key factor; costs will be higher if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or located near structures like power lines or your home. Additional costs may apply for services such as stump removal (which can add $100 to $150), log-splitting, debris cleanup, and obtaining necessary permits. It is also customary to tip the professional, usually between $20 and $100.

You can never truly stop a maple tree from growing taller, but you can rein in its growth by pruning. Proper pruning helps maintain a safe size for your tree without causing permanent damage. It’s important to start pruning a tree while it’s young, long before it becomes a problem. Otherwise, you may be left with too many hazardous branches to remove at once.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.
