Customers say: Terrific value

"Bob gave a great price for the project. Ideally I would have preferred expanding foam insulation but the price was nearly x3 the price. I've noticed a considerable amount of difference with the heat retention in my home this winter. He & his crew were timely & efficient on the day of the job. I've recommended him to my friend who also wants blow-in insulation."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Mark and his team to install new spray foam insulation in our attic to meet the higher demands and code compliance required that you can not get with old style bat insulation. The spray foam sealed all of the leaks we had and made our home less drafty. They also put in new solar attic fans to keep the heat down so our HVAC did not have to work so hard. Great Job Koala!"

"I highly recommend this company for any type of insulation work. The salesman gave a very thorough presentation on all the available options for me, along with a rough estimate at the end of the meeting. I went with the option of removing & installing new rolled insulation (R30). The crew arrived on the scheduled installation date and got right to work. Sealed off everything properly, removed the old insulation, cleaned & cleared out the space, and then installed the new insulation. It was all completed in about 4 hours. I was very impressed."

"If anyone’s dealing with cold spots in their house — we just had our closet spray foam, and it made a huge difference. It was never insulated when we built, and now it’s finally warm. The crew was super professional, very neat, and honestly just a great group of guys. Highly recommend.!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Cellulose insulation is usually made from recycled paper products, such as old newspapers, but cellulose might also contain recycled denim. While most homeowners traditionally buy cellulose insulation to use for installation, it is possible to make your own at home with old newspapers, cardboard, a paper shredder, and boric acid (important for fireproofing your cellulose insulation materials).

A radiant barrier is a form of insulation topped with a reflective material designed to keep homes cool during hotter months. It is generally considered worth the investment if you live in a hot, sunny climate, as the cost can be recouped over time through lower energy bills. Installation costs typically range from $0.10 to $1 per square foot. After installation, homeowners in warm climates may save between $7 and $15 per month, potentially reducing their electric bill by 5% to 10%. The exact savings will vary depending on your location and the type of barrier chosen.

Air sealing isn't necessary for attic insulation, but it's incredibly helpful since it can help you identify and patch any existing air leaks. Failing to find these leaks before adding insulation can render your insulation less effective, leading to higher energy bills and potentially costly repairs down the line.

The ideal temperature for your garage in the winter is between 40 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining a minimum temperature of at least 40 to 50 degrees is crucial to prevent pipes, liquids, and other items from freezing. Low temperatures can also drain your car battery, so keeping the garage stable is vital for your vehicle. While the lower end of the range protects your belongings, the higher end is based on your personal preference for a comfortable space. If you struggle to keep the temperature from dropping below 40 degrees, consider installing a garage heater.

Asphalt roofs provide better insulation than metal roofs, but that doesn’t always mean that asphalt roofs are better for reducing heating and cooling bills. In hotter climates, metal roofs will usually be better for home efficiency because the material reflects more sunlight and reduces solar heat gain. In colder climates, asphalt roofs are sometimes superior in terms of efficiency because they introduce more solar heat gain to your home and have greater insulating capabilities. However, metal roofs installed with an air gap can provide similar levels of insulation.
