"I only gave these guys three stars, because they did clean work and didn't leave a mess behind for me to clean up. However, they took my money and did not complete the job to my satisfaction. When I asked them why they didn't cut the branch that I hired them to cut in the first place, they gave me excuses where they used buzz words like "horticulture". So, I had to hire a second tree service who came in and quickly completed the job that these guys failed to do."

"Very happy with the project Wilson’s Tree Service Landscaping completed. The service included tree removal and tree pruning in our backyard. Wilson’s team were professional and responsible. They took care of removing any objects that were in the way and replaced them when they were done. Arrived on time and price was reasonable. Would recommend and use their service again."

"A representative came by fairly quickly to give me an estimate for either just clearing the debris or taking down the tree.  Once I agreed to hire them it took a while for them to come back and actually do the job but this was not unexpected as it was after the huge storm and all the services I had called were overwhelmed.
I chose them as they were local and had been rated highly.
I was pleased with the service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Finding a reliable arborist starts with researching specialists in your area and checking their licensing and certifications. Use online resources like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to conduct research on each company. Next, contact the arborist and ask the following questions to see whether they are the right fit for your project:

  • Do you handle or specialize in dealing with the issue I’m having?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Do you have any third-party certifications?

  • What equipment and strategies do you plan to use?

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

It could be anywhere from weeks to years for a dead tree to fall. A dead tree falls based on its weight, how it leans, the state of its roots, the state of decay, and what local windstorms are like, among other factors. Since it’s hard to predict the fall’s timing, it’s important to cut down a dead tree quickly and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.
