"these guys are the best. They came out almost immediately. No one has cleaned the fireplace insert or the chimney like they did. I had absolutely no draft, another company wanted to charge me $600 because my chimney is not standard height. They had all the tools necessary to clean it all the way up, not like the last company that came out. They cleaned the woodstove shelf-no company had cleaned that before and left the house without a trace they were here. Very respectful of keeping the place clean as they went. Even made friends with the dog. I scheduled my next cleaning right away. These guys far out shine anyone out there. Highly recommend"

"As a single, female homeowner I rely heavily on customer reviews when it comes to selecting contractors for home repairs. Therefore, I take submitting my reviews seriously and am always completely candid. With that said, I am submitting this review to express my satisfaction with the chimney cleaning and chimney liner replacement performed by Daren of Gallo's Chimney Sweep. Daren (and his brother-in-law, whose name escapes me) were both extremely professional and personable. Daren provided pictures of my chimney, which clearly showed I had a problem. He patiently explained in detail (including the required materials) what should be done to rectify the problem. There were no 'hard sale tactics' nor any pressure to sign a contract. After making a few calls and conducting my own research on the Internet I discovered his quote was very reasonable. We agreed on a date/time and he arrived as scheduled. They reviewed completed stages with me throughout the project to make sure I understood what they were doing and why. Once the job was complete, they cleaned up all the debris. Gallo’s Chimney Sweep checked all the boxes: Prompt, Professional, Dependable, Lifetime Guarantee, Reasonable Pricing, and Immaculate Clean-up. I highly recommend Gallo's for your chimney repairs and maintenance."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

After completing fireplace service, verify that carbon monoxide detectors sit within ten feet of every sleeping area to meet state safety laws. You must also schedule a final township inspection to close your permit. Local professionals recommend running a draft test during your first seasonal use to confirm proper airflow. Finally, establish an annual summer inspection schedule to keep your Mount Laurel home safe and ready for winter.

Helpful?

Coordinate fireplace service with HVAC upgrades to avoid conflicts, since both systems share ventilation pathways in older Mount Laurel homes. You should also bundle chimney repointing with roof replacements to reduce labor duplication while scaffolding is up. Combining your gas insert installation with other appliance upgrades allows you to submit a single permit application, saving you significant time before the cold New Jersey winter arrives.

Helpful?

Routine fireplace service and safety inspections require a certified chimney sweep. For structural repairs like firebox rebuilds, hire a licensed masonry contractor. If you need a gas insert installed in your NJ home, an HVAC contractor handles the venting, while a licensed plumber must run the new gas lines. For full renovations involving mantels and drywall, a general contractor coordinates the multiple trades needed to finish the space.

Helpful?

Start by verifying permit requirements for fireplace service early to prevent delays. Schedule your project in July or August to secure a contractor before the busy fall heating season. You must confirm your professional holds active state registration before signing any contracts. Always request a video camera inspection of the flue to establish a clear baseline of necessary repairs for your older NJ home, preventing unexpected surprises mid-project.

Helpful?

Your home’s era and layout directly impact fireplace service. Older properties in Mount Laurel feature original clay flues that require relining to meet current safety standards. If you own a ranch or split-level house, shorter chimneys create draft issues that complicate liner installations. Townhouses with shared flues require careful coordination and HOA approval. Finished basements also conceal chases, meaning contractors must open your drywall to access cleanouts and gas connections.
