They Truly exceeded my expectation. Steve is extremely customer focused and ensures that his customers have a good understanding of why certain thing need to be done and what they are going to do. The entire process was incredibly smooth, Steve was very detailed in explaining step by step what was happening, he constantly and consistently checked-in to ensure all work passed his quality check. I was impressed by the install, from the scrub down and sanitizing they gave the basement, to the quality of their materials, the additional drain by the door they provided at no extra charge, and last but not least a draining area for the dehumidifier which saves me the twice daily trip down to the basement. I looked at a few waterproofing companies, and am glad I choose Blue Umbrella Waterproofing. They were reliable, efficient, had high-quality standard, and lastly upfront and honest. I would recommend them for any waterproofing needs."

"My car had to go in for repairs on Saturday due to an accident.   It was a blessing in disguise because on Saturday night, since I couldn't go out, I went to the basement looking for something to do and found a large puddle of water.   I saw my water heater was leaking from the top and bottom - a result of being an old heater and well water.  I shut off the water to figure out what to do.  I turned to Angie's List on Sunday morning and found Garon T plumbing.  I contacted company on Sunday morning and spoke with the owner Tom. Though he was ready to come right out to assist, I didn't want to spoil his weekend. We scheduled an apt for first thing Monday morning and he promptly arrived before the established time.  He drained the old water heater, removed it, put in the new one.  Everything was done neatly and I once again have water.  Thanks Tom.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

No, you don’t want your crawl space to be wet because water and even moisture in the air under your home can attract insects and rodents, decrease your indoor air quality, increase your energy bills, promote mold growth, and even lead to structural damage. If you notice any signs of water or humidity in your crawl space, you should get the issues addressed immediately by contacting a professional. They can remove moisture and will know how to waterproof your basement to prevent ongoing problems.

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.

One handy thing about whole-house dehumidifiers is, once installed, you don’t have to worry about placement or changing the dehumidifier’s position. But if you are using a portable dehumidifier, we suggest keeping it away from walls, vents, and furniture. It needs a central, unobstructed spot with access to lots of air to do its job.

In nearly all cases, you are required to install a vapor barrier in your crawl space. However, local regulations will change based on the local climate and the crawl space's susceptibility to moisture. Even if a vapor barrier is not legally required, it is often a good idea to keep your crawl space dry.

Costs depend on the area's size and condition, damage extent, and chosen method. A professional evaluation provides a tailored estimate based on specific needs.
