Buyer beware! Shady business

First Choice Waterproofing has a Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating of D for a reason. Please learn from my elderly parent's mistake and hire a more reputable basement waterproofing company that has better ratings, who will keep their word and provide a thorough and safe job. First Choice Waterproofing wanted to collect all payments without completing the job that was started on 10/31/23. Steve from First Choice Waterproofing has threatened to void their warranty if all payments are not paid in full regardless of leaving the work incomplete, unsafe and will not pass township inspection. Payment of about $15,000 has already been paid less holding amount of about $500 when job is complete and satisfactory. First Choice Waterproofing has removed all obstruction including electric outlets to start the job but failed to communicate who will be responsible to fix all that was removed. First Choice Waterproofing has left existing electrical outlets hanging on a piece of string which is a complete fire hazard. Even their own workers deemed it unsafe but did not address. First Choice Waterproofing has also left all cut framing studs hanging in place when it was communicated by Steve that it will be removed and bagged safely. Steve from First Choice Waterproofing provided a low estimate then added additional work and charged thousands extra for the work in the end. Extra work done was never validated safe nor necessary. First Choice Waterproofing took advantage of an elderly customer who knew not what to ask and trusted the company to do a safe, thorough and complete job.

On site within an hour. Performed all work within 3 hours. Fantastic experience.

From the first sales encounter to the final installation to our financing service, this company did a fabulous job of managing our concerns and handling our home with care. Our basement is already significantly dryer than it was and the knowledge that our basement is guaranteed for 2 lifetimes is worth every penny.

I had two estimates and took the higher one as they seemed to have a better system. After the installation, we have not had any problems in the basement. However, the sales person misled us regarding the procedures. He did not tell us the drain would be covered by concrete platform which created the 10 inch depth and a half inch high slab around the wall due to the foundation structure. We were told this on the instllation day. We had no choice, just needed to get this done as the basement flooded when it rained. We had a basement project after this and the slab screwed the design and budget.

Job was done amazingly! From start to finish top quality work. Team came in on time, cleaned up and kept in a time frame that was given. I recommend First Choice waterproofing,LLC to anyone. If you are look for true professional work in your home, this is the company. I love my basement now, knowing I will have not issues to worry about again!

Took two months to complete a two day job. Owner stopped returning my calls. Took my 10k real quick and wonâ t respond to a service call. Wonâ t even return my call or emails.

They guarantee their work and do an incredible all inclusive job.

I was very satisfied with the workmen ship. They were on time for the job, cleaned up after they were finished.

First treatment didn't work. The owner Steve came out at night to address the problem. He had his guys fix the situation. Seems to be working.

Came promptly, good review of the problem. Quality work, neat and clean even with having to open the basement floor. Great warranty. Held up to weekend tropical storm. Not a drop of water in the basement.

Our basement had been a wet mess for many years. We contacted First Choice for an estimate, found the cost to be reasonable and the representative experienced and knowledgeable. By allowing the company to choose the first available date for our work (as opposed to us insisting on a certain date), we even saved money! The work was completed in two days and those guys really worked HARD. They were generally respectful of our property and even agreed to power wash the cement marks off our driveway, even though they would wash away in time. Now our cellar is dry and smells better. We are SO pleased!

The work was done over two days. The men were extremely hard-working and pleasant. They did a great job and were respectful of our property. Our driveway did become unsightly with cement-y footprints, but someone from the company is coming to power wash them away.

Steve, makes sure you are happy with their work. Also, he treats you like he's known you for years.

Arrived on time. All of the people involved were knowledgeable, helpful, polite and the basement was left clean and dry. Definitely recommend their work.

THIS WAS INSTALLATION OF FRENCH DRAIN & PUMP. We are new to this home, and had been in the crawl space maybe 2X! It is 4 feet deep w/1 light source. We knew the sump pump was shot - were looking merely for replacement w/battery backup. We stated there was no standing water. When Michael came to estimate, we had some surface water; he believed we needed more than we wanted; we didn't listen, he didn't pressure us. When the crew showed up after a particularly rainy period, Wilson showed us what we didn't know, had not seen before--we really had water down there. Wilson was honest, and advised while he could replace the sump pump, it likely wouldn't be enough to take care of the issues - my words, I'm paraphrasing - but he would do the work as we requested and leave it up to us to monitor and could return and install a french drain in the future. No pressure. After speaking with Wilson, and him showing us what we didn't know about the crawl space (seriously, who wants to go down there in the first place) he made sense to us and we realized we needed more than a new sump pump. We found Wilson to be knowledgeable and personable. Steve came out and after discussing it with him, again, it made sense to install the french drain and relocate the sump pump. Good thing we listened to the pros. French drain, moved pump to better location, and battery backup. We cannot say enough positive remarks about how meticulous they were with the installation. The crawl space looks amazing, the pump is quieter than the nightmare we had before, and they left the crawl space cleaner than it was before they arrived. For all the work they did OUTSIDE in preparation, etc., once they left, you would never even know they were here! They worked extremely hard in damp hot weather. Wilson was informative throughout, and the crew was respectful of our property. The new pump works like a charm and we are pleased with the work and the price.

This company was fast, efficient, and great customer service. I’m so relieved to have a water proofed basement and the crew did a really great job, kept a clean, safe work environment. Nothing but good things to say.
